DarbukaDave
Can anyone tell me how to remove the stock crossbars from the roof rack on my 2015 TC? There's no info in the manual and a search here doesn't show anything. I've never removed a rack before, so I'm not sure where the feet can be loosened. I'd like to take them off until I need them. thx138
Unlock the ends, pull out on the black cap and twist to loosen. Do both sides before you try to remove, mine took a smack with my palm to free them. DarbukaDave
DarbukaDave
I wondered if that square rod was a wrench. Thanks!
connectkid
if you remove the crossbars, can you use the holes for aftermarket roof racks without removing the interior head lining?
DarbukaDave
My crossbars are mounted to what are basically artificial raingutters. Those stay on. I don't know the answer for other years.
Tom899
Do the crossbars slide in the roof rails to adjust for different top carriers?
DonShockley
The crossbars can be positioned anywhere along the length of the long continuous roof rails. DarbukaDave

Ccrew
And to a small extent they'll move side to side. You'll see once you get them off. So if say you wanted to hang something more to one side or the other there's a small amount of movement. I have a Yakima Skybox and bike mounts to fit mine. For those with rails but no factory crossbars Yakima Railgrabber mounts work on ours. And someone asked if you can remove the factory rails without removing the headliner and my answer is : Not that I can see, I see no fasteners from the top unless they're stealthily hidden under the ends but I can't see how.
