I'd love to know how to connect my DC-DC charger and my Solar Controller to the Connect's battery and alternator. It is difficult to find into on the Connect. does the 2019 have a Smart Alternator? windguy Posted July 29, 2025 Share Posted July 29, 2025 Wouldn't it make more sense to add a house battery for your solar system and extra power usage and keep it isolated from the van's main electrical system? That's the way I'd do it for a camper conversion as they do with the bigger size vans like a Sprinter or Transit. The footwell area for the second row seating is a great place to stash a house battery. The only downside is having a battery in close proximity to your sleeping area. To wire up my Renege 40A DC - DC Charger I'd like to know the best spots to connect my NEG - terminal to the van's battery (I assume POS + will go on POS battery terminal), and most importantly, where the IGN Signal Wire should be wired to the van? I also need to put a fuse on the POS side of the battery. It is a tight space but upfitters must do this all the time? Just wanted some info from people who have done it. The "van side" is the battery cable. This cable directly attaches to the body/frame of the vehicle. Using a good body groud connection for high amperage loads is always recommended. There is a sensor on the battery connection that measures current flowing in/out of the battery. Maybe they want this connection directly to the battery terminal to bypass this sensor?
