skippyelwell
I finally got the van home today and started stripping it out in preparation for a new wood floor and shelves. The fibreglass partition was the first thing to go and once I got the black mat up I saw the added piece of floor. This black screwed down floor extension, is it integral to the structure of the truck or can I modify it with hatch to access some of that unused storage space underneath? Thanks
windguy
Congrats on your new van. Getting a van delivered to the US has the advantage of having this deck bolted in rather than welded in if it was delivered to Canada or EU. You have many options for capturing this foot well area for much needed storage in the TC. Use the SEARCH function in the upper right corner of the page and you'll find lots of different solutions discussed over the years. Below are a few links to get you started, which I found by searching "FOOT WELL". skippyelwell
skippyelwell
Fantastic, it's a footwell, of course. Makes perfect sense. A lot of US vehicles are sold used in Canada so I'm glad mine is just bolted in. Thanks for the links, some good ideas there.
Phil0110
The added floor extension could be providing additional structural support, and removing or modifying it could compromise the integrity of the vehicle. It's recommended to consult with a professional mechanic or body shop before making any modifications to the floor of the van. To produce additional electicity you can purchase a generator e.g. https://generatorpick.com/best-rv-generator/ especially if you are going to travel on it. Don Ridley
It was previously noted the cover plates simply cover the footwells that are present in the wagon version of the TC. They are safe to remove. JackGrimshaw
