New to me 2010 FTC in Brooklyn, NY

Hi all, Happy to say I found a fairly solid FTC with ~140,000 miles. First order of business is replacing the engine/tranny mounts, reattaching heat shields and checking/replacing the rear brake pads + drums(?).

Looking forward to sprucing it up a little and decking it out for some camping and dirt bike weekends. I'll do some searches and get to know the forum a little.

I am in search of rear passenger seats if anyone has any. It has the mount points but previous owner remove/discarded all but the single, passenger-side seat.

Thanks, Jason

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new to you TC.

It's not official until you post a pic of your new ride.

As you pour over threads on this forum, you will find lots of discussion about the importance of proper transmission maintenance. Stands true for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 TC.

Something to consider sooner rather than later if you didn't inherit good maintenance records for the van, especially with 140K miles on the van.

Good luck!

Does that recall apply to 1st-gens? I know it says 2013+, which is a weird cutoff, and I see a post that says "expanded to all models", but it references the 6-speed auto trans, and my shifter cable doesn't look anything like kruss77's pictures. Do we use the same bushing inside?

EDIT: We do not appear to. I don't see how our bushing even comes out, and the manual lists the adjuster (the whole black bit) as part of a complete cable assembly part# 8S4Z-7E395-AG.

Sweet, thanks.

In the interest of preventative maintenance, I stopped by local Ford Parts on my way home to see if a Gen1 bushing is sold separately. I think OP's confusion is understandable, because parts barely knew what the hell was going on. One mention of TC shifter bushings and they wanted to give me the Gen2 stuff, even when I insisted that I drove a 2010 and those parts weren't right. It looks like maybe they don't index the Gen2 bushing by application; it's only sold separately from its cable because of the recall.

In any event, they told me that the Gen1 shifter cables are in the process of being obsoleted, and there are currently 10 remaining on Ford shelves in the entire country. Dealer price is ~$80. So, if you do manage to break one, good luck with that.

Thanks, I'll put some photos up once I'm off the work computer and the sun comes back out.

The PO replaced the transmission around 130K along with the timing belt and water pump. I'll keep an eye on it and search the forum for preventative transmission maintenance.
