Range left when low fuel light comes on
herb replied to Almo's topic in 2002-2013 Ford Transit Connect
The TC tells you exactly how many more miles you got until you can't drive anymore i believe , the info to change things so you can see how many miles till completely empty is on the steering wheel, at least in my TC. It showed how many miles even with the low fuel light on. -

After thinking it over i'm going to have to agree , Fifty has superb priorities, rock solid . -
You talking about the Transit Connect or the Transit ? A Transit model will work for what you want to do but i highly doubt a Transit Connect will .

I bought the Motorcraft touch up paint offered at the Ford dealership , works well and is matched perfectly to the vans color.

Seems there are different model Rhino ramps . -
Ford Transit Connect meets Focus RS

There are images of a generation II model with racing stripes also , think it's called the Connect Sport , comes with the GT 350 R engine, welded interior safety cage & huge 28" X 10" -15 Goodyear drag slicks . Think i may pick one of those up , clocked quarter mile times in the mid 8 second range . -

Somethings definitely wrong and i'm shocked that it's so difficult to figure out and fix , there shouldn't be constant rattles in the door area . The dealers you went to sound completely incompetent . When you mention "Break in" at what point do you consider a new vehicle broken in ? Only certain car ramps work from what i hear , some tear up the front plastic area , i'm still hoping Beta Don reveals how he gets under his van. -

Fifty explained how he gets under the van to work on it , how do you get under there Don ? Do you have 4 separate jacks ? -

I ruled out the NV 200 based on it's even less impressive engine than the TC , it does come with a longer warranty though . Whoever designed the larger Nissan vans should be fired immediately , those things are horrific looking . -

Everything that you seem to want the TC really doesn't offer , to me i find the TC very very comfortable , it has plenty of get up and go and it's quite economical . TC is mostly a transportation vehicle built for the budget conscious family in the Titanium trim and a delivery vehicle with the Cargo version that happens to get very good mileage, it's nothing like the vehicles you listed above in your initial post . The TC is by far the sharpest looking small van on the market and it's hard not to be enamored by it's styling , never had so many people i don't know come up to me and ask me about it , even when i went to vote in Dec a bunch of people came up to me and said thats really "Cute" i want one lol. -
That trailer in the pic looks like no issue at all , i heard some try to pull more weight than whats recommended .
-
The fill plug huh , i think overfilling could be problematic also don't you think ? Too bad there is no way to tell the correct level .
-
Some of the things i have heard is to make absolutely certain your trans fluid is at the correct capacity which Ford doesn't allow apparently since there is no dip stick for checking the trans fluid . But having the trans fluid level dip is a big no no from what i have read if you want to avoid transmission issues . The other thing i have heard is heavy towing can wreak havoc on the trans but who knows lol.
-
I have never encountered a need to use "S" mode in any driving conditions anywhere , no hills where i live at all and i never tow anything . I would love to see TC's at the 100,000 mile mark with one never using the "S" mode and one that uses the "S" mode exclusively and compare the transmission woes that these specific transmissions seem to suffer with so much . Failed transmissions are like the # 1 complaint with these vehicles on every forum . Not saying the driving modes have anything to do with it but i would love to find out the why's of many failed transmissions on these vehicles.

A few questions after a test drive

Two inch risers for the drivers seat? Wow, i sit on a cloth cushion and even that little cushion elevates my viewpoint to make it virtually impossible to see the instrument controls , thats one thing that Ford messed up on that instrument panel is impossible to see clearly unless you're a midget . -
I took tire purchases seriously with my Mustang V8 but with this underpowered 4 banger i just want something that wears well and isn't overly expensive . Ford has some type of warranty on those OEM tires and to have heavy wear at just 10,000 miles is ridiculous .

Did Ford kill the Connect diesel and the SWB?
herb replied to ford-diesel's topic in Transit Connect Member Custom Builds
Apparently 650 miles . So you must stop every 90 minutes when the battery runs out of electricity and then get out and push the vehicle until you locate a charger in the middle of nowhere that might not even exist . If you do find one at least you will be able to rest from all the effort you expended from needing to push the vehicle when it ran out of electricity since it takes hours to recharge for a mere 90 more minutes of driving After recovering from pushing the vehicle to find a place to recharge you get to do it all over again , this whole electric vehicle thing seems to need more development imo . -

Electric cars are a hard sell for many people especially automotive purists . Even if they were superior in most every way many will never accept them . -
I would love if Ford increased power and torque but i'm convinced they won't if it effects gas mileage in a negative way , people have been wanting more power for years so what does Ford do , they install an even less powerful 2.0 liter engine with an 8 speed transmission for 2019 , brilliant lol.

Yes, not a ton of ground clearance but it hasn't caused me any issues and i live off a dirt road so no issues . I have no issues with the mirror's and i love the fact that you cannot see the hood when driving . Compared to my car the TC does feel like i'm much higher up when driving and i like that but if you're used to an F 150 that explains why you feel you're not as high up . I find the engine peppy enough but with a car full of kids you might have a very different opinion , a tortoise blew me away in straight line acceleration once so it's not a speedster by any means especially with extra people . Imo for a growing family i would opt for something a little larger and a little more powerful . -
I haven't experienced any wheelspin at all regardless of weather and it's been rainy for weeks down where i'm at . I might get some wheelspin if i drove in the "S" mode but i haven't done that as the "Drive" mode performs just fine.
