Maybe itll get better when it breaks in. My 2012 has 205K on it and gets 27 on the highway, 23 in the city

Welcome to the group. Lotta good info here

My pet peeve is pedestrians with the right of way in parking lots. Makes no sense to me. Pedestrians are far more maneuverable than cars. Pedestrians don't waste fuel while they are waiting. Pedestrians have far better visibility that persons in cars. About ninety percent of pedestrians have come to believe that the privilege afforded to them because they are on foot has become more than an entitlement, it is a license to take their good sweet time without regard to who they might be holding up. They are herding the kids, fumbling for keys, talking on the cell phone, gawking around and just generally skylarking. It is just counter-intuitive. Then there are those speed bumps. When I am in a parking lot, I play a little game. After I pass over a speed bump, I try to see how fast I can go before I come to the next speed bump. Actually my last statement about the game, isn't true, but sometimes I feel that way.

You just have to make sure to close the screen door

I like "mrtns" comments better than mine.....I may have come across as overly critical. In truth I would buy another one of these trucks in a minute. In fact I will be in the market in about six months and I will actively seek to get another 2010 to 2013 TC. They are serving me well as a business asset.
-
Welcome to the group...... I am new here as well but I have already received some good insights. I own two TC (2011 ans 2012) and use them for business....Restaurant, catering, delivery and food truck. You would probably be looking for a more recent issue which is likely a good idea. One of the things I have come to grips with is the fact that the 2011-2012 have some annoying shortcomings. I don't regret buying these truck because I got them for a song. I just could have been better prepared. So it would serve you to familiarize yourself with the features of each marque. And this is a fabulous place to do it. Welcome.

Has anyone swapped out oxygen sensors in a 2011 or 2012 TC? Photos would be helpful

Anyone have experience swapping out the O2 sensors in a 2011 and 2012 TC. Photos would be helpful, since I am pretty dense.

Sheeesh! I am crowded out by the subsurface navy

To Boomerweps, When I saw your handle, I thunk so. Retired Surface ET and W4.

I like bread because it is always loafing. Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk. Anyway, welcome to the forum.

DBV, I was an ET in the Navy and taught electrical engineering in the university, so I know where-from you speak. My sense is that while the customer may not realize it, he probably does not want the shop to have any spools of wire for fear their techs might try to use it. I think the reason why they use the scotchlocks is that they can be installed without the use of sharp instruments. The people there (as you imply) are really just kit installers. (At least that is the case at most of the shops here.) My antenna hits the open garage door but that is about the only problem I have (Mine are 2011 and 2012 models), but I don't do Ham radio. Heck I almost never listen to the FM radio in the darned trucks. I love LEDs. In this day and age, they are the only option that makes any sense.

Welcome to the group. You said "factory remote start". If it does not have to be "factory" you might get a after market group like a car audio place to do it for under 200.00. The locals here in Chesapeake, VA advertise lower prices but they always find ways to get the final figure to a point where it makes sense for them to open the garage door.

The truck runs a little rough..... Before I checked the mileage I was about convinced it was time for plugs, wires and such. Now I am not so sure.

If you are speaking of the little button fasteners, I just pull them out. I have lost more than I have destroyed. They are cheap. GO to eBay and search "ford transit connect door panel fasteners" . They are there by the ton.

Yep....I am seeing it the same way.

Agree completely Don. Problem is finding something behind the grill to attach the clip nuts to. Maybe as simple as putting them on the existing tabs...the ones shown in the first photo in the 3:24 of yesterday.
-
I will prolly go in and redo this in a way such that the screws go into the grill more perpendicular with the plane of the grill members. I would do this to try to avoid needing to use the fuel line bits to make it look right. Would also design the thing so that the screws don't turn into nuts which have to be held from behind. As it is now, if my latch spots working again I would still have a heck of a time getting the outer grill off.
-
More photos. The first photo shows the parts I used to repair the grill so it would remain in place. Stainless steel screw, locking nuts. a piece of fuel line cut to match the incline of the hood and make it look more natural and finally a little beveled washer to give it a more finished appearance. Second and third photos are of the left and right side of the grill with the holding hardware in place. With the hood closed and the outer grill in place, the only evidence that the hood latch was repaired is the two stainless steel screws.
-
More photos. First photo is of the sockets in the backing grill into which the studs in the outer grill extend as locators. Second photo is of my outer grill after I broke the top studs off so I could get the grill off. You can see that the bottom two studs are still in place and undamaged, but the top stud is missing completely.
-
Here are some photos. First photo is of the carving job I did on the backing grill. You can just see the bolt near the top center of the photo. I would have been much better off carving out to the right of the bolt so I could get a socket in straight onto the head of the bolt. Second two photos are of the damage to the lock/latch. You can see it is pretty well bent out of shape. A little damage is also visible on the top of the lock tumbler housing in the first photo. I guess something hit the front of the truck as in a minor accident. Carfax shows no insurance claims on the truck and no accident reports. But it is pretty clear this did not come from someone opening the hood with a key.

To BT, Welcome. Congrats on the purchase. I think you will not be disappointed in the usefulness of this resource.
