As far as I can remember there is only one size extention and specific to the ford threading etc. In other words the model # you purchased for the vehicle should have the part to order as an option if your oil pan drain hole is set back a little from the main casting . I just went out to refresh my memory and yes I used both washers and they are blue but never use any loctite on either .the extention is about 7/8" to 1" there abouts. I hope that helps.

I have one fitted as well . You need the extention Fitting as well to keep it off the casing a little .

No high Temps as far as I know ,have no way to measure . All seems normal but have concerns being in Florida ,just would like an additional cooler on for re-assurance . It sort of put me off when I asked about it at Uhaul . Stuck at where to go for reliable service and advise ,especially with a new to market vehicle. Keith

Has anyone had an after market cooler fitted to there 2010 ? . If so ,could you please furnish info . . I asked at Uhaul when I had my tow hitch put on and was told it already had a cooler ,so thats as far as that conversation went . I know there would be a way to put one on after the stock , but I am not versed in such things ,so I am trying to get the best advise possible . Thanks . Keith

Thanks Guys for the comeback . Made the score on E-bay . Thanks WOODY ,there was another one that was just put up "new" $ 28.89 with postage (buy it now). Again thank you Gentlemen. Keith

I have over the last 2 weeks been trying to obtain a TPMS reset tool from E-BAY but have had no luck (always outbid) So today I contacted my local Ford parts place .The guy there told me that there was no tpms sensor secified for the transit ,but I told him I did not think it mattered which tpms tool, He then passed me over to the service tech who said that I do not need the tool for every day things like tire rotation as long as the tire is set to the correct pressure when changing from front to rear etc. it would read all ok . Of course not having tried any rotation as yet I was at a loss. From what I am reading here I DO NEED THE TOOL for tire rotation . So Gentlemen could you advise on the number I have to give the parts person to just tell him "heres the # ,bloody order the thing will ya ". I did notice there have been a few #`s posted before but wanted to have the right one , to be sure . Thanks Keith

Tow Hitch Lighting hook up
cabmeister replied to cabmeister's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Thanks gentlemen for your input A Kurt 56090 Harness kit on its way as I type Yes the U-Haul place did tap into the existing lights . I am sure this will sort it out . Again thank you :: Keith -
I mentioned in an ealier post that I have had a hitch fitted by U-Haul and that I successfully completed my first time try out with my TC. What I forgot to mention was that , with the electrics plugged in ,when you turn on either direction signals the bulbs start off flashing normal rate but like in an instant flash like crazy. Then they do not work . Has anyone else who is towing had this problem . From what I can tell there is no plug in flasher unit ,it is run from a module . Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks :: Keith

Not a problem . Search out on E-bay . The one that I found was from a seller " carboagez" it included the complete wireing diagrams as well .If I remember correctly, there was a few up for sale .

I would be interested in the results also .

Towing with the Transit Connect
cabmeister replied to isellford's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
I have had the Hitch from Uhaul fitted to my TC , a class 3 hitch with 2" receiver. Although I will not be towing anything often .I felt that although it reads that Ford does not recomend towing why on earth does the tc have built in holes and welded nuts to accept a hitch . I did , just last weekend try the trailer towing thing . I have a Northern tool 5ft. X 8ft. single axle with rear drop down gate which has a 1 7/8" receiver. it was loaded with cabinetry around 700 lbs. the van was loaded with my install tools with 2 passengers and has a roof rack fitted. the trip was 125 mls one way mainly interstate flat land (florida) a few inclines (sunshine skyway bridge ) etc. Cruise control was set to 65 , OD was set on . Also A/C was running . The TC took it in its stride ,no sweat . I was counting when the transmission had to down shift , 3 times in total . It passed my personal test of being able to handle a trailer for what I personally want . Miles to gallon went from my normal 24 - 25 down to 21 which i think is to be exspected. Oh! I had only 2 , 272 miles on the vehicle. -
And all for $14.95 no less . That was great , I`m still laughing :D

I had the opportunity today to cover the roof with Fat Mat sound deadener and the 5mm. closed cell foam silver covered insulation. The job was completed in around 5 hrs ,taking my time . It was made a whole lot better with the newly aquired workshop manual ,Details of how to take things apart and what order to do this was a blessing . Now on to modification # 5 the floor . Mod #1 was tow hitch from UHaul (class2) ,Mod #2 was Head unit / nav Kenwood 9960 ,Mod # 3 Roof Rack (Alurack ) . No worrys the speakers system will soon be outa there , thats a given

After I posted the original thread I got on the phone to talk to my buddy who put the head unit in to update him on what the service guys said . He suggested I bring the old radio back with me and he will swap them out , which I did . took all of 10 mins . Result still no A/C . We then decided to go ahead and try to solve the problem ourselfs well him not me  I`m great at cabinetry but not good with mechanics. Now I can`t remember the exact part name but it is a switch on the left side facing the passenger in the engine compartment on the bulk head .Anyhow this aparently makes the A/C compressor kick in . My buddy jumpered it and the A/C kicked in no problem ,nice and cold . Now he said that is what he would say was the problem a bad switch , but he also said it could be to higher pressure or to low a pressure in the system that also makes the system stop working . Even though the vehicle is not 1 month on the road it is more likely the Switch inside the engine compartment that is the problem .He inspected all round the cavity and beyond where the radio goes and there is no way there is anything there that could be knocked or shifted to make things not work . Keith EXPANSION VALVE That was the part name I was forgetting .

First part of the TC proposed fix ups completed . I went ahead and had a Kenwood 9960 Unit put in . A very nice unit and is what I wished the factory unit would have been . I followed recomendations and sent away to Nexia (uk) for the harness adapter and other bits and pieces. I had a friend of mine who is into car audio big time put it in last weekend . Needs major door speaker and probably rear speaker update A.S.A.P . well y`all know what I mean  This next part maybe a little off topic but I thought it might be worth a mention . This week I had the Tire sensor light come on ,like flashing for a while and then stay on .After a while it would go off ,then the next day do the same . Of course checked pressures all round and spare and everything there was ok. Also my A/C would not work ,clutch not spinning . Checked the fuses and these were all ok . So booked in for a service .I went today for the service and they fixed the Tire thing (never mentioned what was actually wrong with it ) but could not work out the A/C problem this time around . Anyway they had to order the parts for the re-call of the roof liner pins and said they would further investigate the A/C ,NEED IT @#%@@ here in Florida. The mechanic seems to think that the problem might be linked to the new head unit install .Although I doubt it I know nothing about this stuff , but does anyone with a better understanding of this think it could be linked to the problem ? please if you would , advise?. Further updates when they happen Keith

I have had my TC only for a couple of weeks and have yet to get into a cleaning routine like I had with my previous ride ( Mini Cooper S ) .I was really anal about appearance inside and out . All of my cleaning supplies were ordered off the web . Two of the products I used for Engine and wheel well cleaning were MEGUIAR`S Detailer Series , Safe D - Greaser and Hyper Dressing . Both come in 1 Gal jugs and are diluted to your personal requirements. Mine are like 6 years old and I`m down to half ,so you won`t be buying it every month . !!! Warning !!! it is not cheap but IMHO is well worth it for ease of use and the superior results obtained. Also for treating the exterior plastic trim I used a product called BLACK WOW It also treats coloured unpainted plastic trim just as well as black though . It is only available on-line so maybe just google it to obtain . I hope these sugestions help you to easily maintain the looks of your TC . Keith

Hi All, I have had my TC XLT WAGON for a week now and I am having a blast with it . I was going to go with the Factory NAV but did not want the added baggage that went with it . Also , as others have stated the radio is not really the best sounding system out there .I have decided to have a indash NAV system put in ,probably the Kenwood DNX 8120 or the DNX 9960 ,nothing written in stone as yet . It also goes with out saying to change / Add some decent speakers again nothing chosen (still trying to read some recomendations ). MY head unit is the FORD 6000cd with the Nokia bluetooth system . I have been reading here and have contacted a company over the other side of the pond NEXXIA .com to try and pull all the right gear to get this setup installed without a hitch .I will post later perhaps when things start to come together .
