Mark Cooper
My door sensor says the door isn't closed properly when it is and it can take up to 10 attempts before it accepts it's closed. ay ideas how I can stop it happening please?
Don Ridley
The latch mechanism contains the switch the identifies the door status. You probably need to replace the latch assembly.
Willygee
Does this require reprogramming of any sort?

Nothing I have seen in the drawings or Forscan indicates this must be programmed or configured. But I have never replaced one.

This is apparently a very common issue, so assuming they didn't redesign the assembly for higher reliability than the original, i'd refrain from going and buying another door latch assembly just to fix this. instead, you can just open up the door panel and locate the two wires that need to be connected to make it think the door is closed, and that'll take care of the inability to lock your doors. What 2 wires? Thank you.
ThatsMyDawg
Like many I also have the door ajar issue. I prefer not to do any bypass, because I want to know if my door is really not properly shut. I am going to have Ford to a software update maybe this year or next. I have read that sometimes that fixes this and other small issues. Sometime you have to swap switches, sensor and harnesses though. Since I have LED lights inside it is super bright at night when the lights pop on when the door shows as open. (even if it is not) I hate that so while night driving I always turn the inside lights off. The door chime is also annoying, but with all the road noise, etc it's not the worse. Either way I will deal with the door ajar at some point, but for now there are bigger fish to fry.
