Jenni Driver
help? I’m traveling for another few weeks, and my rear roof brake light hood is slightly askew on one side. Water has started to leak inside under the headliner right by the back doors. 1. How to resolve? Do i need to buy a wholenew hood? Should I just try and silicone some cock underneath there until I get home? Considering putting a fan up in there, for air circulation. 2. Has anyone done that with the fan? thanks. i’m 3,000 miles from home.. ?
windguy
@jenni driver - sorry for your woes. Sounds like you're on a heavy duty trek. Hope it's been fun so far. Perhaps you can post some pics of what you're dealing with so someone can more easily provide a solution or at least a temp fix. Gen 1 or Gen 2 TC? Perhaps you can also share about where you're located or will be traveling too soon and maybe a forumite who lives nearby can assist with the problem. Just a thought. Good luck. PS - just to be clear, you're asking if you can use some silicone caulk, right? ?

Jenni Driver
Yes, sorry, that was a bad typo. Yikes. Yes, i used some silicone caulk and it worked so far. What I’d really like to do is to remove that upper light and put in a max air fan
Fifty150
In The USA, the 3rd brake light is probably a legal requirement. For different Ford models, going back over a dozen years, the high mount stop lamp has been a source of leaks. On some models, Ford began to sell replacement lamps with thicker gaskets. There are also aftermarket lamps with bigger foam rubber gaskets. And some aftermarket companies sell just the gasket. You can install a fan by cutting into the roof. A lot of shops do installations for rooftop fans, air conditioners, and refrigeration.
