Vanlife505
Hi everyone, I am new to Vanlife and am hoping to get a 2010 Ford Transit Connect to do a very basic set up in the back. I read that models 2013 and up have transmission problems: https://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1132412_ford-recalls-more-than-200-000-transit-connect-vans-for-transmission-issue Does anyone know if 2010, 2011, or 2012 are also susceptible? The 2010 I am after has 170, 000 on it and I would get one with lower miles but I am worried about transmission issues. If I could afford it, I would go with a Nissan NV200 to be honest as i just don't want to have transmission issues. Thanks in advance. The 1st generation had a different engine and transmission. Similar, but different. The recall you saw was for the 2nd generation vans. Gideon
Nissan NV200 is nice BUT you must be VERY careful about the CVR transmission. It uses special [read $$$] oil. Vanlife505
Gideon
Also, NOT certain, but believe Nissan NV200 CANNOT tow any trailer due to CVR transmission. My older 2016 and present 2018 XLT wagons rated for 2000 lbs gross trailer weight. Vanlife505
