jonathan ortiz
Hi Guys I have 2015 transit connect with 2.5L engine. I did a engine swap in my van because has a internal crack in the engine block and sound like connecting rod noise but wasnt. i disconnect the harnnes from ECM and put it in the new one. I install new engine on the van and i was ready to crank but wont crank. My battery has good voltage and i did load test on the battery and is good, i check the fuses right on were the positive cable is connected and all the fuses are good, i make sure the my transmission was on parking too, my fuses on the fuse box are good too. Did you have any idea what else i need to check? I hook code reader and has 2 codes for 02 sensor bank one and bank too, but i dont think that would cause the engine wont crank. i need help on this please Thanks in advance
Don Ridley
I don't have any experience with an engine swap. Are you using a real scan tool or just an OBII reader? A scan tool will show any errors in communication or configuration with the ECM (actually the PCM in a Ford). Check out Forscan. You may need to do a relearn on the PCM. Forscan can do this. Google engine swaps on various Fords to see what's needed.
G B L
Was the replacement an exact match? Did you swap the engine and Trans or just the engine. There must have been more wires to disconnect then the ECM harness. I suspect there is a wire or plug that is not connected. It is most likely something in the wiring that was missed , that is what usually happens to me when I do an engine change.

With an advanced scanner you should be able to see if the keys are registered to start the engine. Some have the ability to do the replacement protocol but definitely do your research before you start anything. If you do the PCM replacement protocol, you will need 4 keys at minimum to get everything set. Transit Connects always need 4 keys in memory. If you don't have all 4, you might want to contact a local vehicle locksmith to do the work
