RuleTek
Hi, We have a 2013 Transit Connect and while driving it the gas gauge dropped to empty, the low fuel light came on, (there is almost a full tank of gas) then it stalled and of course all the lights came on. Now it won't start. It will turn over, and when you let off the key it keeps turning over until you turn the key off. All the accessories work correctly. It has 130,000 miles and is properly maintained. Does this sound like an ECM?
G B L
Could be the fuel pump, You need a Scan Tool or Forscan. If you turn the ignition on does the fuel pump run for a couple seconds? Edited December 8, 2020 by G B L
RuleTek
I did do a code scan and it came back with no codes. I'll have to listen for the fuel pump, not sure why the starter would keep turning after I let off the key though.
Don Ridley
Did you scan using a scan tool that can read DTCs? A good scanner can read fuel pressure and many other variables (PIDs). My 2016 will activate a start sequence once the key is turned. You don't have to hold it until it starts like we did in the past. Maybe this is why your starter keeps turning. RuleTek
Thanks GBL and Don Ridley, I checked the fuel pump fuse and it was blown. Replaced it and it blows as soon as the key is turned forward. So the problem is getting narrowed down, just have to try to find what is making the fuse blow. G B L
Sounds like a short to ground in the fuel pump circuit, find the fuel pump relay and see what the draw is on the pump. It could be a bad (shorted) pump.
