The Long Wait

Recommended Posts

We have passed the 6 month time line in our wait for our new TC. We ordered it in July and were not sure if we would get a 2011 or a 2012. What we wanted was not to be had in the US, so, Special Ordering from Turkey was the only option. If you have to do this, do not expect a short wait. You have to get a spot in the Build List. Then it needs to be shipped from Turkey to Maryland where it will sit in a crowded parking lot. Ours right now is sitting in the middle of one such lot and has many TCs blocking it from the dock to the trucks that will take it north to our dealer here in NH. He is North Country Ford and is the dealer located at the end of the northern line for Ford Dealers in NH. Even our dealer can not say when it will be delivered. This post is just a Word to The Wise.

I do not know if this is of any help, but....I went to my local dealer early Nov. and said find me a 2012 XLT in silver with rear windows. She mentioned one was at port in MD but said she could not promise me when it would be delivered, but guessed maybe within 2-3 weeks. It arrived in 20 days. Guess it depends on other things as well and also how "burried" in the lot it is.

I love my TC for work so far. Good luck.

We ordered ours in November. The dealer said it would take 120days. So we are hoping for March.

The "Special" part of our order is that we want it in Red. Almost all the ones we have seen in California are white.

This ii the latest update from our dealer:

I just wanted to send you an update on your van, the order is still sitting in the bank and probably will until the middle of nx month.

The plants shut down for Christmas holiday, hope all is well. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :)!
What was special about the order?
My first reply did not take. We ordered a Red XLT Wagon with the LPG pkg., heated windshield, mobility pkg., block heater, and remote start. They told us today that 600 vehicles are sitting on the lot in Maryland. Two additional car carriers are on the way to help. No date given for ours to get here.
Edited by hollowwood

An Up-Date. December 22,2011, we were told our Wagon was in a lot in Maryland. Jan. 2, 2012, we were told it was "Released"? What ever that means.I assume that shipping now has it. Still no word on a shipping date. Ford is really dropping the ball here as far as communicating to a Dealer and us as to when the TC we have been waiting on delivery since July of 2011 will get here. I will post it here when it arrives. Hope that no one else has this happen to them.

Up date #2: Our dealer was finally able to get word from Ford that our TC was "Mobile"? We both wondered what exactly that meant. Today he called to say he could now track it and found out our TC had left Maryland and made it to PA. From there it went to Ohio. Then, for who knows why, it went back to PA? As of last report, it is in New York! That is two states to our west and we may now hope for delivery by at least next week. We will not hold our breath!!

I ordered my 2012 Ford Transit Connect back in June 2011, built on Sept 04, 2011, shipped to North America on the ship "Liberty Promise" Sept 22, 2011.....arrived at the dealer , December 12 , 2011. What a large time gap???? It is now Jan. 16, 2012, and still no TC !?! We are hoping for this week! Art

In due time, it will show up at the dealer? Hope it's this week? Good Luck!

happy%20feet.gifWe got the phone call we have been waiting for!happy%20feet.gif The dealer is submitting the paper work to Ford Credit and the shop is installing mud flaps and giving it a look over. With luck, something in short supply, we will get it late today. It is snowing here and it has regular tires on it. Snows will go on ASAP. They are also needed for Mud Season too. I will let you know first :shift: impressions soon.

Cool, glad it's in. I put Dunlap snow tires on my TC, same size as the continental tires. They work great in the snow.

I am going with the Hankook IPike W409 205/65 R15 94T. I did a lot of on line searches and these were always near the top. They are studdable, but, I will forgo that as I will use them thru Mud Season also.Trying to get up our slippery hill is tricky with street tires. It has a clay base to it. We are planning on doing the pickup and tires both tomorrow.

Considering the weight for such a small front wheel drive vehicle, the TC is very good in the snow with or without snow tires. Good to have snow tires here in Ontario, couse if You travel to Quebec, it is mandatory, and if the Quebec provincial police see you have Ontario licence plates , There is a good chance you will be pulled over for an inspection for the proper tires.they will send you back if you do not have snow tires, or you will have to purchase them there? Here in Ontario it is not maditory yet??? I know when you purchase them, they are only sold in sets of 4, you cannot just buy 2?

We now have our RedWgn parked in drive way! We took it for a 45 mile get to know you drive before we had the snow tires put on. The roads are slushy snow and slab iced and gave a good test of the traction control. I will give it an A+ both with and without snow tires. I am working thru the manual so I have an idea of what I am now the owner of. My Better half ,for who this was purchased, declined to try the drivers seat just now. We have to decide on a vanity plate for her. Her name is Kathryn, or, Kat! One choice might be "KATKAR". An other might be " REDWGN". Your opinion is welcome!

Having two different types of tires on a car makes it completely unpredictable and uncontrollable in slippery conditions. You can't even have studless and studded winter tires at the same time. Both have completely different characteristics on snow and ice. By snow I mean packed, hard snow, not slush.

Vanity plates are not my cup of tea.

Vanity Plates?!? After spending many hours of research and pondering, it is all about telling the world that you have anointed the TC as your choice for "Van of the Year!!!" You just do not understand!!

Interesting info on this order. My order went in on November 5, 2011, along with a $1K down payment. I ordered most of the same items, I went with red, rear windows, SYNC, window tinting, and the top-end of the interior. I was told (then) that the order would be about 2 months (hah!) We're now in February, and from what I am reading, looks like May is about right. I did get an order number from the dealer (4 digits) but that doesn't seem to help with the tracking, any and all suggestions welcomed. I live in northern Virginia, not too far from Baltimore, close enough to visit if the Ford modification folks would allow a visitor.

I am figuring out some other items right now, like how to put my wheelchair/scooter in the back. Haven't decided between a ramp or a lift.

In short, I can wait 'till it gets here to get things right - but I would love to be able to track the order.

Got a call from the dealer yesterday saying the car was stateside, and we should start paperwork so the vehicle would be drive-in, drive-out - a quick delivery. I got things together and set a time... then the saleman called back and said they couldn't do it yet, officially the vehicle wasn't theirs yet.

May 5th will make 7 months, we'll see. But if mine isn't at least a 2012, well, I'm not ready to buy last year's model. :stop:
