Ozzy
Help needed! I had a new battery and alternator fitted on my van and ever since have had issues. I have an egr code 0489 on the dash. Struggles to start cold. Had a full carbon clean and fitted a new egr actuator, seemed to work for a bit but code came back and it is still not running well. Not sure if my alternator failing may have caused and electrical fault? I do seem to be kicking out some black oily substance out the exhaust, however my oil levels are fine. Not sure if I may have a clogged sensor causing the issue. Don't know where to go next. Rather have ideas before heading to a garage if possible. Any help would be great, thanks. G B L
You need a scan tool that will operate the egr system and then you can operate the egr valve. If you have a running issue, then the valve it self might not seal and that would cause a hard start issue.
Fifty150
I do not think that your clogged Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve has anything to do with your new battery and alternator.
