lowpt2001
I was just coming home and my transmission failed on me. When starting up a hill in 3rd gear, it downshifted but only revved. I lost forward movement. Since I was coming home, mostly downhill, i made it to the top of this Crest and stopped. It didn't move on it's own. I coasted downhill to get it started. When I got it fast enough for 3rd it would move. The low gears seemed gone. Any suggestions?
Don Ridley
This has the symptoms of "limp" mode. Did you get a fault message? When there is a serious fault condition, the transmission goes into a high gear and the engine revs are limited. Cycling power may fix it if the cause was a temporary bad sensor reading. You need to read the DTC (not just the check engine) codes to see what happened.
lowpt2001
Is there a way to pull the CV codes on these Van's without a reader/scanner?
Don Ridley
No, diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) can only be read with a scanner or reader. The free program Forscan with an OBD2 adapter works.
G B L
You Need a scanner for sure. The first thing to do is check the fluid level. what year , how many miles?
