2019 Transit Connect TPMS Not Reading One Side (R)

My TPMS is not reading the right side tires, light and dash error warning are present. Performed Forscan module reset/retrain - error persists.

I had new tires installed and the shop was able to read the tire sensors so they do not appear to be the issue, and the issue was present prior to the tire replacement. After going through the training mode (via hazard method and also with Forscan) and reading the L side just fine, I still cannot get the R to respond. I'm considering that the module is defective so I'm willing to replace it.

I've read numerous forums regarding the location of the receiver/antenna, I looked and cannot find it either suggested locations - the front header above the storage shelf or by the rear upper brake light. I also looked behind the glove box trying to find a unit similar to those I saw in the pictures - and nothing.

My understanding from the reading is that this vehicle uses the one main antenna type and not individual ones at the wheel wells - which makes sense because I cannot find any at the wheel wells.

When searching for the units on line I find two different models - one ranges from 2013 to 2023, and the other from 2019 to 2023 - they have different parts numbers and look different physically. In order to confirm mine I need to find it.

I do have other fault codes which I don't believe are related, but in case they are I figured I'd start (with what appeared to be) the least expensive and easy to access. Then I'll work on the rest.

Any additional suggestions as to where this unit can be located in this van? Or - thoughts on what else could this issue be?

Thanks!

I doubt the module is defective. I would suspect the sensors are bad even though the tire shop claims they are OK. You don't know how the tire shop made this determination so I would not do anything based on this diagnosis. The problem of course is the sensors are not accessible. A good scan tool like Forscan, Autel etc will show of the status of each tire. Without a scan tool, I don't know how you can read the sensore data. Make sure you are driving the van a while before the test to wake up the sensors.

Another test is to see if you can populate the "blank" tire locations with data from the good sensors. If you are learning the sensor data by letting air out of the tires when instructed by the display in the cluster, then try fooling the van by letting air out of a different tire than the one requested and see if the van loads data into that tire's location. This will show if the BCM is "blind" to a location.

Thanks. I will be testing the swapping of tires to see if the issue moves. Also, I have looked for the receiver modules and there are none so I don't know whyy these are mentioned in the ford parts diagrams. I did find a tech document that indicates the TPMS is handled withing the BCM and the signal appears to be collected via the network, not an individual module. This appears consistent with not finding a module.
