Kingkoopa
I'm wanting to use my new (to me) Connect to go get a motorcycle from my dad's place a few states away. Mine is a 2014 XLT cargo van version with 2 bucket seats up front and a bulkhead installed. I know the bike will not fit (and close the hatch) as is, but I was toying with the idea of temporarily removing the bulkhead and passenger seat and putting it in with the front wheel where the passenger seat goes. My question is if I remove the passenger seat, the airbag system will definitely throw a fault. Will the rest of the airbag system work correctly? If not, is there a way I can trick the system into thinking that a seat is still installed, but show as unbuckled, so that the passenger side airbags are deactivated, but the driver side ones still work. Thanks for any insight.
Don Ridley
There is not a setting you can change to configure the air bag system as a driver seat only. Unfortunately the passenger seat air bag on/off status is controlled by sensors in the seat. I don't know if a passenger seat air bag error will affect the rest of the system. Safety protocols should dictate that the rest of the system must work. Another problem may be that once the error code is set, it may not be cleared by reinstalling the seat. You may need a scan tool to clear the code(s). Can you create enough space by simply unbolting the seat and moving it forward about 6-12"? Fifty150
Before you remove the seat, disconnect the wire harness. See what happens. Then plug it back in. See what happens.
Kingkoopa
I was thinking there would be a way for it to think there was still a seat in there, with a resister in the harness maybe. ?

I highly doubt it. I'm not even sure if removing the seat would be enough for this motorcycle. It's listed as just short of 8ft long. Cargo area alone is only about 5.5' deep. It would be a tight fit without the seat in there at all. If it does fit, I may just have to forgo Airbags for the trip, since I think if the airbag module detects the seat is missing, it will disable all airbags, including the drivers steering wheel. Fifty150
Be creative. Take the wheels off the motorcycle.
