FoundOnRoadDeadConnect
I have a 2010 Transit Connect XLT. We drive it and shuts off and wont start backup for about 20 min. It always will shut off about 10 mile drive and turn back on after letting it sit for 20 min. I changed the spark plugs, the coils, not the fuel pump it kicks on. I take off the air intake and spray starting fluid and it wont turn on, weird af! What else can I do? I check all fuses and I found the fuel pump reset, not it! Help me understand wth is wrong. Mechanics worthless.
mrtn
Is your immobilizer lamp flashing fast by any chance?
FoundOnRoadDeadConnect
That's the key security at first it used to until i got the key now that doesn't happened. My guess is something security still. How can I put starting fluid straight into the throttle and it not kick on.
lowspeedpursuit
PATS was my first thought as well, but: Quote 419-01-2: The PATS indicator proves out for 3 seconds when the ignition key is in the ON or START position. If there is a PATS concern, this indicator either flashes rapidly or glows steadily when the ignition key is turned to the ON or START position. PATS is active only for a few seconds when the vehicle is starting. It is not a PATS concern if the vehicle stalls after it has been running for a minimum of 3 seconds. PATS cannot disable a running vehicle. So it does seem like he's solved that problem. 1 hour ago, FoundOnRoadDeadConnect said: How can I put starting fluid straight into the throttle and it not kick on. Because you don't have spark right then. The "why" is the question. Flaky connection of something important? My first thought with intermittent spark is flaky connection or computer problem. Are you cranking but not starting, or is it refusing to crank? Does disconnecting and reconnecting the battery let you restart immediately, instead of waiting 20 minutes? G B L
Have you changed the Run and Fuel pump relays, Those are things that could fail after they run for awhile. Does waiting 20 minutes allow It to run for another 10 Min?
