It looks like Fords OEM mud flaps at least for the front of my TC is a good idea and it looks like the OEM ones don't need any drilling on my part to install . Anybody have experience in doing this ? OEM front mud flaps for my 2018 LWB cargo model are priced a little under $40.00 and if they keep the lower sides of the van cleaner it will be worth it .

anyone ready to talk about the 2019 FTC?
herb replied to frintervention's topic in Lounge Transit Connect
I didn't care for Sync 3 either , i have a smartphone but use it for emergencies only , i have no interest in app's and all that other stuff . I don't even use the regular standard Sync . -
Actually it's not necessarily that someone used the wrong screw , dealer used the correct screws with my 2018 but the rivet nut spun freely anyway . I'm not driving and waiting for the dealership to do warranty work on it , i just opened up the back and put some glue on the rivet , no problems since.

I think you should have good luck finding a 2016 or 2017 and they look identical to my 18 . I think the LWB models are more desirable every bit of extra room helps. Just drive it like a normal person not flooring it constantly and beating on it because it will tend to last longer imo. I don't agree with this notion that it lacks power , i find the power more than adequate and it zips around town as good as any other 4 banger i have had , what really surprised me was how awesome it is on the freeway , the thing is super composed , quiet and steady as a rock and super comfortable.

Ford Transit Transit/Connect 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 factory repair manual I wonder if there are really any differences . I would think from like the 2015 on up would all be very similar , i'm talking mainly the 2.5 liter engine.

I wouldn't worry about it , not like you can do anything about it now even if it wasn't the exact spec . I think when you obtain something new, like a vehicle, you go through this excitement stage where you want to make sure you do everything correctly but shortly thereafter when the excitement stage wears off your mindset changes and you go into the " Anything thats left on the shelf will have to do " mindset mode. On another note you found a place where you can download the service manual for $60.00 , thats a lot cheaper than what i have seen in the past it's closer to $90.00 .

OK so i would have to bring it to the dealership to see if there's an update . Wish they would contact you to let you know , that would be easier. -
Late model cars i agree , i can't even find many accessories for my 2018 , tons and tons of info on Transit Connects up to the year 2017 though .

Where do i go to see if there is a download available ? The Ford Owner site because thats where i go to check if there are any Sync updates. -
Excellent info , you must have the official service manual of the 2018 Transit Connect .
-
Thats my point , Fords blend not something like you posted above " Amazon Basics" .
-
Not using any synthetic blend meaning no blends that are not Ford approved , i will always use the blend Ford approves not just any synthetic blend like other brands.
-
I wouldn't use any synthetic blend , i don't know enough about it to use anything other than the exact stuff the manual says to use.

Reflash my cars computer ? I install Sync updates myself if thats what you mean , never heard of re flashing my car how often have TC owners needed to do this "Re flashing" thingee ? How often does Ford offer an update , from what i can gather it's extremely rare . -

" What do you mean by "Ford Certified Mechanic"? Just a term , what i meant was a person who has knowledge and experience working on Fords , i was at one shop and i brought a Chevy to him for maintenance and he said OK but we work and much prefer Fords lol. -

Well of course i would use exactly what Ford recommends which is their Motorcraft 5 w 20 full synthetic oil and Motorcraft oil filter . Walmart carries the Motorcraft with those specs and it's not very expensive at all actually . You didn't think i would go with some economy blend with a Fram filter i hope. I'm just going to bring the stuff to a Ford certified mechanic and have him change it since i see no way i can fit underneath this vehicle to do it myself. I heard the dealer charges like $60.00 + which is insane and i also heard they will not change your oil sooner than the recommended intervals which also doesn't cut it with me . -
No fill port and no dipstick huh ........... well thats just great really great .

This transmission issue with Transit Connects scares me a bit , it's the most commented on issue i have seen on these vans , i really hope this can be avoided but it sounds like it's destined to happen once you get up in the mileage department .

herb replied to Spooner's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Since people say that it's hard to find Transit Connects with 150,000 + miles on them maybe the 10,000 mile oil change intervals have something to do with that . Just a thought . -
Thanks for the comments guys , i was hoping that what Don said was possible as i do have the regular Sync system. I never use it though as i'm not interested in that kind of stuff the van just happened to come with it. I have seen peoples comments that claim the paper cone OEM speakers are poor and a speaker upgrade may make somewhat of a difference and thats all i want . I'm not picky at all and even a minor increase in volume would make a huge difference for me. So many brands and whether to get two way speakers or 3 way speakers and what sizes is baffling . I believe the TC only offers 4 speakers total and i got that , some recommend better tweeters with the upgraded door speakers but when i search online for my specific vehicle , a 2018 TC model there's really nothing , everything seems to be for much earlier models . Anyway thanks for the input.

Signed up today , i'm a new Transit Connect owner . I have been pleased with no complaints about the vehicle so far . The only thing i have found out that i'm going to need is a sound system with a little more volume . I am clueless however and i hope just upgrading the speakers will do the trick .
