I've been out of town the past few weeks and I finally came home & finished the installation. Thanks for the update Don, I also decided to use pins 7 & 10. I just wasn't a fan of the displacement connectors so I picked up a few "posi lock" connectors that feel more secure. I too added some extra wiring length and used a detachable harness in case the rear trim needs to be removed again. I had some spare reflectix from making window coverings so I lined the inside of the trim. It probably won't do much for insulation/sound, but I figured why not. The button works great! Thanks a lot for your help guys.

I'm planning to drill a hole into the liftgate trim so that the switch is on door itself. That's correct, I've been testing with the C465 connector and bridging pins 7 & 2 unlatch the door.

Hey Don, I picked up the supplies and carefully removed the trim. I see several harnesses and I believe it's the red/black one here(?): I confirmed that disconnecting it disables the release button & license plate light. There are several wires on the harness: a row of 3 thin wires, a middle row of 2 thick gauge wires and a single thin wire by itself. I put a battery tester across terminals 1/2 of the three wires and it illuminated (2 is +) but the door didn't open (it was unlocked). Close-up of that harness: Is this the correct location? Thanks again!!

Thanks for the info/diagrams!! That's unfortunate but not a deal breaker as I can keep the keys handy. Any recommendations for how I physically connect the new wires? I've soldered/crimp connected wires before but I've usually joined wires at the ends as opposed to adding to an existing circuit. Should I just cut the existing wires and solder all 3 ends together? (with the battery disconnected obviously & join both +/-)

I've setup my 2014 FTC wagon for camping but I'm super bummed to realize that there's no way to open the rear liftgate from the inside. Is there some obscure lever that I'm missing? If not, has anyone modded theirs to open from the inside? I found this in the transit form ... but I'm not sure how to wire it correctly and I'm hoping for a way to avoid cutting trim.

Of course. That was the main selling point for me. I've been traveling so I had the dealership hold it for me until today -- so we'll see how she does in the rain. Just to make sure I'm reading your post correctly -- are you recommending that I add a splash guard? I was considering it.

@Fifty150 I'd normally agree, but here's some background for my usage. My girlfriend & I drive 4-8 hours most Friday nights to various rock climbing areas. We typically arrive around 1am & get an alpine start by 6am. It's nice to skip the tent and sleep on a comfortable surface for those nights. I just bought this to build it out: http://www.towneford.com/car/182771/Used_2014_Ford_Transit_Connect_Wagon_XLT

@MarcusBrody How has this setup been working out for you? Is anyone else camping with a similar setup in a 2nd gen? Curious to hear your thoughts on comfort / design changes

Awesome, thanks for the photos @Tiller!

Thanks for your input Tiller, you're completely right. I'm pulling the SWB out of my search and deciding between the LWB and the 2013 model. Very cool idea with the matting. I was planning on a 4" memory foam mattress but this looks like a solid option too. Probably easier to clean & roll up for storage

I'm searching for a TC to drive / add a bed platform for frequent rock climbing trips in California. Parking here is a nightmare so I'm optimizing for the shortest length that I can reasonably sleep in (5'10"). I'd prefer a wagon so that I can remove the bed & put the seats back in for group trips. Options: A.) I absolutely love the 2014/15 SWB TC's with the 1.6L turbo. The SWBs look great and the 1.6 offers slightly more power/economy. This is my top pick but the specs show the distance from the front seat @ the belt to the rear doors is only 60.9 inches (5 feet). I assume this is with the 2nd row seats removed? Do the front seats lean forward? Does anyone know of any SWB conversion posts? I can't find them... especially if the owner is 5'10" or more. B.) 2012/13. Great overall length & extra height but slightly less peppy & less efficiency. Few wagons for sale. Less frills overall and they seem to cost about the same as low-mileage 14's. Bad safety ratings. C.) 14/15 LWB. Argh, I'm just less excited about these overall. They seem too long for my needs. http://www.ford.com/trucks/transitconnect/specifications/interior/
