Thanks. Hoping it will be without issues. No rust that I have seen as it came from Missouri just 179k miles. My mechanic is Ford trained but went on his own when the dealership moved because of high taxes. Focus engine needs to swap intake as the donor engine is cracked and timing chain cover. Little more $$$ than intended but still should be under 6k with everything for a very clean set of wheels.

Unfortunately I have a 4 speed slush box. Hoping to keep the initial costs down.

Anyone have a real world time on engine and tranny replacement? The new to me 2012 has high miles and issues so found an engine with 7k on it and getting the transmission rebuilt. Mechanic said book shows 16 hours but then I know of other things that it exagerates way over.

I know there is a couple sets on CL in Minneapolis, from salvage yards I believe.

Using the Valvoline full syn is a no brainer and probably pretty cheap if one gets it in gallon jugs at Walmart. I did a recommended full fluid change on a Nissan Xterra using synthetics and better plugs and a gave more than a marginal increase in mileage. The Xterra owners site members have had excellent luck with the Valvoline synthetic. Will be doing a full fluid change on a new to me 2012 this weekend as it has no history. Now have to find plugs and coil pack.
