I'm using Castrol edge I believe-whatever their full synthetic is. I've use mobil 1 as well. I think the most important thing is sticking with synthetic and keeping clean oil in the motor. I'm not actually sure what they recommend for intervals on the transmission but I'm sure its like 100k or something crazy. No clue about the undercoating.

Mine are alloy 16".

One year ago I bought my 2015 TC titanium. It had right at 10,000 miles on it and now I'm at 51k miles so I've put a lot of time behind the wheel of this thing. Overall I'm super happy with the van. I am a sales rep and I always have a pile of samples, catalogs, etc with me. I also have two young kids so the roominess of the van is great for me. I took out the third row to give me a little extra room in the back and haven't needed to put them back in yet. I've tracked every tank and I averaged 24.2 mpg with a best of 28.7 and low of 22.7. I wish the mileage was a little better but I generally am going 70+mph and on trip I take has a speed limit of 75 where I'm doing at least 80 for 4 hours so really not too bad given the room it has. Still have the stock 16" tires and they still really look pretty good and I'd say I'll get another 10k or so out of them. No major issues so far either. I did have a leak from one of the roof rack plugs but they took care of it quickly. Mine has the touchscreen nav, heated windshield, remote start etc and all the features have worked great. I did crack a windshield and it took a few days for them to get the right one in but I don't think the heated windshield is super common. I'm hoping to get 200k or so out of this and I maintain it to a high degree. I do 5k mile oil changes with full synthetic oil and will get the transmission serviced soon as well.

So you guys will scoff at my thinking of going to 18's then huh haha! It just sucks because the wheels I really like don't come in anything smaller. And I think the ride is fine with the 16's but I travel 95% on the highway and our roads are pretty good. I still have a few months before I need tires so I have some time to figure this all out.

I'm trying to find out what the stock 16" alloy wheels weigh. I'm looking to get new wheels when I need some tires this spring and am hoping to not have the overall package weigh much more than stock. Anyone happen to know or where to look?

I'm just shy of 50k miles and they are still looking pretty good on the OEM 16" conti's and I'm pretty surprised by that. I was thinking of going to 17's with new wheels when these need to be replaced this spring but wondered if you guys were getting similar mileage with the 17's as well. I'll probably go to Michelins on whatever size I go with since I have had amazing mileage in the past with their tires and good performance over the life but I have to say I'm pretty impressed so far with these continentals.

Wagon Considered Commericial Vehicle??
Spooner replied to TC281's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
I bought my 2015 Wagon used and have a loan through wells fargo as a normal vehicle loan so you should be ok. My interest rate was 3.74% -
Yeah mine doesn't have the roof rack so I hope the plugs hold up. We have had a ton of rain since the 'fix' and no issues so far. I'm glad I got it fixed before the warranty ran out, I'll be over 36k this week.
-
Just as I thought, it was coming in through one of the mounting holes for the roof rack. It's going to dump down rain this weekend so I'll get to test out their fix.

So I got the back left glass replaced about 2 weeks ago and I noticed it leaking again yesterday so its back in for more work. I have a feeling its coming in through the roof or something.

Just put 2300 miles on a rental Titanium.

Glad you liked it! I did just what you are talking about-found a 2015 with 15k on the odo and saved a nice chunk over buying new. I am up to 33k now 6 months later and still in love with the van. -
Anyone else having issues with this? My driver side rear glass and back window are both leaking water. It's being fixed under warranty but I thought that was a bit strange. Also just cracked a windshield so maybe my glass is just cursed

Only about 4 tanks of gas so far on mine but averaging 24-25. It's been super cold and windy and we are on winter fuel so I expect to pick up a couple mpg's in the spring. Put 2k miles on it the first 2 weeks and loving it so far.

Is there a way to limit how high the liftgate goes? When I put it up in my garage it barely touches the top of the opening of the garage/bottom of the garage door. It would be nice if you could adjust it so it wouldn't hit. I end up have to raise it super slowly so it won't damage the door which is a PITA. I know some of the power ones you can do that, but I don't see how to do it by looking at it or reading in the manual. I'm guessing I will just have to deal with it but I can't be the only person that wonders about this.

Search Inventory
Spooner replied to jackandnora's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
You can also use sites like autotrader but I found it frustrating that the dealers wouldn't actually fill out what options the van had. I literally had to just look at every single van posting to find what I wanted. -
Yep I was checking those out. Will have to get one coming soon!

I've wanted a TC since they came out in 2010 but those were a bit too small for me. When the new version came out I liked it a lot and finally got serious about finding one the last couple months. I was hoping to scoop up a leftover 2015 for a song but Ford doesn't seem to be giving the dealers many incentives on them. With that I noticed there were some good deals on slightly used ones so after deciding what trim and options I wanted I got to searching. Surprisingly a Lincoln dealer very close to my house had a 2015 Titanium in the dark grey which is exactly what I wanted. Their price was quite high so I looked all over the country and was about to get one from Chicago for a much better price for almost the identical spec. Yesterday I called the salesmen from the local dealer and said if he can match the other dealers price they had a deal and they went for it! Super happy with my purchase. Its a LWB titanium with Nav, front and rear sensors, heated windshield, and remote start. I really wanted the hitch but those are so cheap aftermarket that I wasn't too bummed it didn't come with it.

I just but a TC and also noticed the sunglass holder is pretty bad. I've had some full size trucks that they fit in, but it's like the manufacturers don't actually try to fit sunglasses in them when designing them. I have a fairly small pair of sunglasses and it won't shut. Might look into modifying it a bit to make it work as there isn't a ton of cubby space in these things.

I might have time to head out tomorrow armed with my measuring tape and see what I come up with. I did drive one a couple weeks ago but I was short on time so I didn't take measurements. I also need to see how I would chock the wheel-I'm thinking I will make one that bolts where the third row seat bolts to so I don't have to modify the interior. I really want to make it work as it would be perfect for my job and growing family.
-
Yeah I wouldn't use it a ton as I usually ride with friends but I would like to be able to put it in the van. I don't really want to do a trailer just because I don't want to store one. Plus part of the niceness of putting it in the van is keeping it out of prying eyes and out of the weather. The full size transit is nice but mine will be used as family and work hauler 90% of the time so I'd rather have the smaller size and better mpg of the connect.

The door opening may be the killer for me. My bike is right at 50" to the top of the hand guards. I could easily remove those before loading and unloading but if the opening is only 44-45" I don't know if I could compress the forks enough to clear that. I could use a holeshot device on the forks which hold them compressed for race starts but I'm not sure how much it lowers them.
-
Those measurements help me too-I'm looking to buy a wagon as well and hope to fit my dirt bike in there. Looks like it will be super close from those measurements. I plan on just unbolting the third row and leaving it out most of the time. That way I can load it backwards and clear the bars but put the rear wheel up on top of the folded second row.
