Question... Does that attach using stock holes or would you need to drill new ones? I'm looking at running a rooftop tent but I don't have the OEM rails, so I've been looking at ladder racks to see if I could make them work to support the tent. Or at least give me a base to work from.

MK2 TC (2014 up) COILOVERS completed !
Eazy replied to CAGE B8's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I appreciate this info. I've been looking into building an air-ride setup, but I hate dealing with compressors and the like since I would lose my third row seats. The GAZ setup wouldn't be too crazy to get shipped over, but if I can make something from the states work that may be easier. I would be very interested in a write-up or at least part numbers for the install. I hate owning stock height cars.- 33 replies

I use mine as a family hauler...kind of. Between my girlfriend and I, we have three kids aged 8, 10, and 12. Hauling them around on the occasions that we have all three of them at the same time works well, but I don't believe that we could comfortably add two more kids (using all 5 rear seats) to the equation. In the last year and a half of ownership, I've put 7 people in it once and it was a rather uncomfortable experience. The rear heater is terrible. It doesn't seem to really make any difference in the temperature in the back. I have found though that the front heater is more than capable of keeping the whole vehicle warm, it's just not as efficient as being able to use both heaters.

You can really tell when it's been either super cold or super snowy. I generally try not to let it warm up too much, but it's been a rough winter.

It has been a while since I've posted an update. Instead of showing the whole data set (it's over 70 rows now) I made a graph. I'm about to hit 20k miles and my current average is 23.22 MPG.

2014 Transit Connect fuel pump recall
Eazy replied to 103west43rd's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)
Just wanted to post a follow up on this and maybe see if anyone else has had the same experience. In December I went in to the dealership for an oil change. Asked them about the status of this recall. I was told that it was still pending since the parts weren't available and they hadn't started offering preventive fixes on it yet. That same day I received a postcard in the mail from Ford saying that I needed to schedule a time to have the pump replaced because they were now available. That postcard was dated in November, but had been delayed because I recently moved. This week I received another postcard, so I called the dealership and asked again. This time I was told that I would need to bring it in for them to inspect the related parts before they ordered them. I dropped it off this morning. Never heard anything back. So I called just a few minutes ago and was told they were just finishing up. I asked them what had taken so long and I was told they had to replace the pump. So I've been told it wasn't ready and it was and then I was told it wasn't going to be fixed and now it is. -
2014 Transit Connect fuel pump recall

Received this notice in the mail the other day. This week I filled my tank and the gauge immediately drops to 3/4 of a tank. Hoping it's related, but also hoping it's not. -

Sunglass holder and child rearview mirror missing?
Eazy replied to jallenz's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
Just found it. The parts website is such a pain to use. It's $146 http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=eXNGqcteU8fPCJrP1mQWpA%3d%3d&id=300579802&m=2&search=true&year=2014&make=Ford&model=Transit%20Connect -
Sunglass holder and child rearview mirror missing?

I see it on the list, but my XLT also didn't come with one. I've looked into buying it, but I can't find a part number. -
2015 Van Ordering Experience
Eazy replied to windguy's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
To follow up, the upper tail light piece is specific to the "Titanium" wagon models. It looks like they're about $150 a piece. Part number is 13404B http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=xHFVvuRdko97SsnYQq6oVg%3d%3d&id=300540930&m=2&search=true&year=2014&make=Ford&model=Transit%20Connect -
Just heard back from the dealership. They confirmed that it is an issue with the seal on the axle and that they would need to order in the parts to replace it. They also mentioned that there is a Ford "Service Advisory" out on the issue. He said the leak is small enough that I should be fine to drive it until the parts come in. I'll see if I can find out more about this "Service Advisory" and what it means.

2015 Van Ordering Experience
Eazy replied to windguy's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Those aren't specific to the wagon, as my wagon does not have them. Maybe they're only on the Titanium? I'm not sure, but I would really like a set. -
Calculated off the odometer. I don't trust the trip computer. It's just averaging the results from the "instant" number, which is just monitoring injector pulses vs speed. It's a good point of reference, but the proof is in the miles/gallons.

Just took my TC in for the 5,000 mile oil change. I'm only at 4,800, but the trip I'm going on this weekend will put me way past that so I went in before I left. Much to my delight they called me and said I needed to take it into their service department (they have a separate lube shop on my side of town) because I had a "serious transmission leak". Dropped it off to them and walked to work because their "shuttle service" wasn't available. It's only about half a mile, but that's an annoying half a mile when you're not planning on it. I'll let y'all know what I find out from them. Hopefully, this has become enough of an issue that they can make a quick fix of it. I need my van back.

I don't remember where I posted this spreadsheet before, but here's an update on my TC. Winter is killing my efficiency.

Rear Heating Problems, 2014 Transit Connect LWB Titanium
Eazy replied to mrgone's topic in Climate Control
I do not have the Titanium model, mine is the XLT trim. However, I do have the dual zone controls where the rear has it's own temperature control. Other than the case number I was given, I haven't heard anything else from Ford, my dealership, or the Ford Service twitter account. I plan on dropping my TC off in the morning with a list of issues for them to look at. If nothing else the rear heat. Hopefully, it will be cold enough for them to replicate the issue with the front heat as well. -
Rear Heating Problems, 2014 Transit Connect LWB Titanium
Eazy replied to mrgone's topic in Climate Control
As an update, I made a somewhat passive aggressive post on my Twitter account about the heat issues I'm having. Almost immediately, a customer service rep contacted me and created an "escalated" case with their department to get it into the dealership and looked at. I'll update as I go through this process and see what kind of resolutions I get. Some other observations I made. I also would like to take this chance to remind you all to check your coolant levels. My reservoir was almost empty when I first started working on this heater issue. I filled it (which is a royal pain) and this morning it was about a 1/4" below the line. While it's possible that this may be part of the problem with the heat, I doubt it. They would have to have majorly screwed up to ship a vehicle so low on anti-freeze that it can't build pressure. I'm going to the have the dealership check for leaks just to make sure. This wouldn't be the first dangerously low fluid I've found since I received my TC. -
Rear Heating Problems, 2014 Transit Connect LWB Titanium
Eazy replied to mrgone's topic in Climate Control
This is fun, isn't it? My daughter was in the van with me the other night and I turned the heater up in the back. She was complaining about how cold she was and that it felt like the vents were blowing cold air. I reached back and made sure it was on heat, it was, so I stuck my hand in front of the vents. Sure enough, that noisy piece of garbage was blowing ice cold air even though the front vents were blowing heat. It gets better though. Yesterday, it was -3*f before windchill. I went to pick up my daughter from a sleep over and the van never seemed to get warm. I turned the heat up and moved it from defrost to vents and found out the front was blowing ice cold air as well, even though the water temperature gauge indicated the van was on the verge of overheating. After about a half hour drive and a couple calls to the stealership, it decided to start working. I had hoped it was a fluke. Much to my dismay, it wasn't. This morning it was only 0*f and it took almost an hour for any heat of any sort to come out of the vents. So I guess my van is going back to the stealership in the morning to get it looked at. You better believe they'll be hearing at length about both issues. I sold my '71 VW bus because it didn't have heat, I'll be damned if I'm going to just live with this 2014 Ford not having heat. -

Received mine last week. Called the stealership today and they had no idea what was going on. I hope they figure it out by Thursday. -
Bring your TC to Idaho. I'll wire your door pins to a switch in your dash for free.

Aftermarket wheels for 2014 Transit Connect Wagon
Eazy replied to John Comiez's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
The problem with the TC vs the Focus is the wheel opening, which may be why Tire Rack doesn't list anything yet. The rear suspension design and the cargo area make the wheel wells incredibly small in the TC. I haven't done any measuring yet, but I can tell by looking at it that there's not a lot of wiggle room. I'll probably work on wheels and what not in the spring. No sense in doing it while there's snow on the ground.
