AGMS
Hi, I have a 2016/2017 Connect which occasionally has a problem with the radio. Normally when I open the drivers door the radio will switch off, however there are times when the radio will not switch off when the door is opened. If I shut the door, lock the van, unlock the van the open the door the radio switches off, if I just close and open the door it doesn't switch off. Does anyone have any thoughts as to the cause/remedy? Cheers
Don Ridley
It could be the radio (ACM) or the signal to turn it off. You will need a scan tool ( like Forscan) to read all the associated signals on the network to see what is happening. Troubleshooting this could get complicated. B0NE
When it happens again, try pulling the door almost shut slowly. Just enough to have the weatherstripping meet without triggering the door latch. The sensor or switch will trigger and the radio will turn off. I started getting into the habit of opening the door slower and now I think it happens less. geno1950
This is going on with my van too. Also sometimes when opening door the interior lights don't come on and radio display does not light up. It has to be something with the door switch. Van is a 2018 model.
Skizzly
This was happening intermittently on my 2017. Radio would stay on when the door opened. If you closed the door and reopened it, it went off most of the time. Opening any of the other doors would also turn it off. Dealer replaced the driver's door latch and it's been good for over a year.
NeverAgainFord
I had the same problem. One of dozens of problems with my 2016 Ford Transit Connect Passenger Van since I purchased (none covered under warranty, btw, even though problems began as I drove off the lot). Ford: Never again. In the meantime, I've had this issue for 2 years now and trick was to snap the driver's interior door latch a few times after turning the car off. Usually does the trick. But over time, it's taken more and more snaps to do so. I refuse to pay Ford to fix a problem arising from their cheap engineering, so researching if we need to replace the latch (as Skizzly said it worked for them). Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!
