2000 miles and really impressed!

Recommended Posts

I first noticed a TC about two months ago while traveling. Then once I researched them and started looking around, I found there were many around me. I live in Pigeon Forge, Tn and several companies here use them for mobil billboards advertising their business. I have a need to haul sound and timing equipment to events I hold across the country and the more I looked the more a TC seemed to meet my needs. I found a 2011 XLT wagon with 11,5K miles at a dealership 100 miles away. After a test drive, I knew it was a good fit. I picked the TC up last Tuesday night, drove it to Hernado, Fl. (650miles) the next day. Got 25 mpg, hauled windows, tools and luggage just fine. Power is fine for a 2.0 liter, wasn't expecting a speed demon. Ride is very good, radio is a bit weak and ended up at local dealership getting low tire sensors reset, but overall, I am very happy with my new workhorse. This is my first front wheel drive, my first 4 cylinder, and some friends can not believe I am driving it, but I have to say, I am very much impressed with the new Ford.

As you can see here, Bill, some of us love the thing while others loathe it. I agree with you though- great utility, reasonable gas mileage, adequate performance. Sure is not a hot rod, nor or a luxury limo, certainly far from gorgeous, but it suits me too.

Well, I own an E320, C-6 Corvette, 72 Dodge Charger with modern drivetrain, 02 Suburban, a 89 K-5 Blazer and a motorhome that gets 7 mpg. So, this new TC isn't my only ride but certainly is great for what I bought it for. Mileage, hauling light loads, roomy for 4 and plenty of power for interstate travel. I would love a diesel and manual 5 speed and would do the conversion if could aquire the parts. However, until then, or until ford offers it here, I will be happy with this one. I installed a charcoal filter in the fresh air intake today, and huskey floormats to protect the front carpets. New wheels should be in tomorrow so a little dress up on the exterior is coming soon.

You guys should buttkick Ford until you get a diesel manual there.

Averages 36 mpg in summer and 29 mpg in winter.

Being one who has owned a diesel station wagon I used for towing a travel trailer,I have to point out that gasoline now cost $3.40 here in NH,while diesel fuel cost $4.10. Add to that the fact that the high sulfur content of diesel fuel requires that you change the oil more often. The cost advantage of a diesel is not as great as it seems. Torque is where a diesel is better than a gasoline engine. My 65 hp diesel engine pulled our wagon and trailer, 7800lbs of rolling weight, as far as Ohio and West Virgina while getting 18 mpg.It did work the begeevers out of it! LOL Weigh the Cost of it to the Benefits you get.It cost more up front too. If you really work your TC, then a diesel may be for you.
