REC
I've noticed several other colors popping up on the dealer's lots here locally. It almost makes me wish I could have waited a little longer.... I ran across a silver one today (what I think I would have wanted), and another dealer had a red one. The red one really caught my eye. I've seen a black XL, but no metallic black XLT as of yet, and am still waiting to see a blue one in person. I was VERY taken with the blue XLT posted in another secton of the forum by our resident sales Guru, Ed. There was another one posted in the Navi/Electronics section too. Any other colors in the group (besides the rather obvious white, of course)? Don't get me wrong, I like white, but it seems that the only color any of the stores locally ordered to begin with was.... white. A little variety is nice, but I also understand they were ordering for commercial sales, not people who have odd tastes in motor vehicles with both function AND form! Oh well...... Dunno
Can anyone explain why silver and black are not available in Canada? As a consumer and car enthusiast, I am continually amazed at how the manufacturers offer certain models and options in some places, but not others. Even if I bought the only black Transit Connect in Canada, would it cost Ford any more just to offer it? Paint doesn't have to be crash tested, does it? Is there a way for me to contact the right person at Ford to ask this question? I'm also one of the (seemingly) many people who would prefer a diesel powered Transit Connect (a manual transmission would be the icing on the cake but I would take the auto if it had a diesel). I think this type of thing is important for Ford to consider. I am a life long Volkswagen devotee, who always laughed at the thought of buying a Ford. Yet there I was at the dealership, looking at a Transit Connect. So, they've partially succeeded...They got me in the door, and searching the 'net for information on one of their products. The asking price is in my budget, but there's just too many compromises for me to make that keep me from buying one.
robertlane
They don't offer black or silver in Canada? That's odd to say the least. What colors do they offer in comparison to U.S. models?
hkr701
Also in Canada they don't offer the XL model in any van or wagon. Only the XLT. The vans also don't offer the sliding door windows. Only the wagon has them. The real difference is in the price. The list price in Canada for the base XLT van is 26799. The van with back windows is 27299. The base wagon is 28299. On top of all these prices is shipping of 1400. I would hope that Ford of Canada will adjust some of these prices knowing that the Canadian dollar is getting closer to par with the US dollar. Also in Canada we have a federal tax of 5% and in Ontario a provincial tax of 8%. All these factors make the Connect up to 30% more expensive than in the US. I hope they change something if they want to sell a lot of Connects in Canada.

As for the taxes, not to worry, the U.S. is catching up

robertlane
Ironically, we only get red, white and blue! Classic. Not. I wonder if they will be adding more. I can check with Ford Corp. and see what I can find out.
Transit Connect Writer
Wow. I don't know. The answer would best come from Ford of Canada communications. The big insight for me is that hardcore VW people seemed genuinely interested in Transit Connect.

The big insight for me is that hardcore VW people seemed genuinely interested in Transit Connect. I have read a few comparisons of the Transit Connect to the original VW van. I was actually seriously looking into putting a Ford Zetec in the back of a VW Vanagon when I saw the Transit Connect at the Toronto auto show last year. Why do that when I can get a brand new Ford powered van? Mind you, the Vanagon was available in black, and had a diesel option. (They also had a 4WD version but I won't get greedy here!) PetrosA
Here in eastern Pennsylvania I spotted the first non-white TC just a few days ago on a dealer lot. I placed my order waaaaay back in September for a silver one with Nokia Bluetooth. That combination was not available to the dealer from any neighboring state with the CA emissions, so my order went in to the factory in Turkey. Delivery is scheduled for end of November. Whatever you do, don't look at all the options for the TCs available on www.ford.co.uk Aluminum rims, various engines, rears, gearboxes, lengths etc. - who needs all that? I would wager that some of those options will eventually find their way into the North American market. I believe that Transit Connect will be a big hit over here. Dunno
Ford's Canadian website now shows black and silver as colour options. I'm very happy to see that, but I'd still like to have a diesel option. The Canadian International Auto Show takes place in Toronto in a couple weeks. I intend to spend some time at the Ford booth and ask some questions...
scottacus1100
I have a black XLT wagon and I honestly think it is the sharpest looking color. it sat on the lot for a while and the salesman said no one wanted anything but white
