ky_tc
Hey guys, i want to install a power inverter in my 2014 tc. I know what I need in terms of power requirements and the unit I want etc. Just wondering if anyone has done a similar install and wouldn't mind sharing some knowledge/ tips and tricks. Fifty150
The only thing that you will need to figure out is where you want to install it. Do you want it in front, in the cockpit area, so that the driver has access? Or would you rather have it in the rear, where you can access it while working? In the front, I would run power into the cab through the holes already existing next to the A-Pillar, behind the plastic trim piece. In the rear, you can access power at the auxiliary junction box behind the passenger side trim piece next to the rear door. Other than that, it's a matter of setting up a circuit breaker & fuse for safety, and deciding where to bolt it on.
Boguenator
I did mine under my drivers seat. Plenty of room under seat and I ran the wire on drivers side and there is a access plug that is behind the brake pedal and ran wires straight to battery
Beta Don
I installed my inverter at the far back on the drivers side - Behind the removable panel which pops off for access to it I ran a single positive cable from a 70 amp fuse added to the panel in front of the battery. The cable was an easy install, as I popped off the weather stripping for the drivers door and the rear sliding door and laid the cable in the trough and then put the weatherstrip back in place. Got the negative by grounding the inverter negative to the chassis near the inverter location - You DO NOT need to run a negative cable from the battery to the inverter Don
