Bart Luther
For search purposes what do I call this space that was under the front bucket seats ? I want to build something that makes the floor flat but uses the space for small storage . What have others done ? Thanks for any help ! What is under the raised section in the back ? Is it removable?

Is it removable? That's my van! Go look at my build thread and you can see what I did although I opted to build a stable flat platform over the lower 2nd row area to maintain that low entry point on both sides of the van while still allowing plenty of space to put "things". Bart Luther
Your van is amazing! DonShockley
My 2015 has the 60/40 bench but I pulled the 2nd and 3rd row and put a wood platform covering everything from liftgate right up to the front seats. I found some flat bins at Walmart that could slide in from the sides with the doors open. And the 60/40 seems to have less smooth space than what your photo seems to show so it should work even better there. I had to make some strange shape foam fillers to get everything flat enough to support the bins sliding in and out smoothly. I did a writeup on my mods if you need more details or photos. Lots of lessons learned. Take your time and really think it through. Here's a link to my build. Hope it helps! And hello from another mountain/road biker! Tiller
What you do depends on what you want the van for. I built my floor way up with storage underneath. I still haven't gotten back to putting something down to smooth out that well a bit where the seat bolts are. But hopefully I'll get to that soon. Others level it with the back section and put some type of trap door or hinged lid. It's all in how you intend to use the van. I kind of wrote out 3 or 4 primary goals of what I wanted to do and that drove the build. Still a lot to do!!! Bart Luther
Dang you all have some skills ! Love the builds and giving me some good Ideas ! My problem is the skills . I would love to build some storage under the flat floor and probably will try it eventually . For now I only have limited time to work on the camper van and a low level of skills in carpentry but I am not scared to try . I have to keep it simple for now to get me through the next few bike races so I will start by installing a flat floor with room for a few storage bins under the front depression . what is the thinnest piece of plywood I could use on the floor and still be somewhat sturdy . I will try to cover the plywood with some type of floor covering ? I really want to do a good job eventually but for now need to kind of cheap out and get something done fast . Thanks all for your ideas and help .

I used 1/4" perforated hardboard as a base for my vinyl planks and its working great. I'm not standing up and walking around in the van so IMO 1/2" , 3/4" plywood is overkill unless you are using it as a base to screw things into (which I'm not). Seems like you have not gone through my build thread link that I posted above. Go ahead and do that.
