buckethead
Could anyone comment on running a lead from the battery to a battery combiner mounted behind the passenger seat on a 2015 Connect XLT LWB? I've spent little time under the hood. Not sure the gauge yet but I see the ME-SBC transfers up to 25A. http://www.magnum-dimensions.com/smart-battery-combiner Thank you. G B L
Looks like a good rig should work well. Number 10 wire would handel the load with a very minor voltage drop. Make sure there is a fuse at each battery .
buckethead
Okay but how do I run it? How much stuff do I have to take apart. Maybe this is a job to farm out. Car stereo place or dealer?
G B L
A couple of question's What is the purpose of the second battery? Where do you want to put it? Is this a van or a wagon Edited July 14, 2016 by G B L clarity
Booner
I don't think a 10 gauge wire is not big enough to handle the amperage. I'm thinking a 6 gauge at a minimum. 4 gauge is probably better. You may want to visit www.battery1234 to get an idea how an automotive engineer did what your trying to do
buckethead
GBL, It's the house battery for a camper conversion of a 2015 XLT LWB Cargo van. It will be underneath the floor extension behind the passenger seat. It will eventually power a stereo, fans, lights, fridge, inverter, etc. Thanks Booner I'll poke about there. I need to know the length of the run to determine the guage.
G B L
Cool that will be good. The alt is is 150 amp unit, and the output wire is about 10 gauge. If the Camper power is coming off the second battery then 10 gauge will handle the 25 amp charging load fine. Sounds like a great project!
