Erik Andreski
I've had my Transit Connect about two months now and after taking in on vacation to Seattle, it's developed a creaking/squeaking sound in the sliding doors. I've traced the problem to the black plastic guides that locate the door when its closed. I've sprayed silicone spray, Armor All, and finally white lithium spray grease and the things still squeak when the body flexes over uneven pavement. Any solutions? mrtn
The key is to keep the guides as clean as possible. Remove all silicone and lubricants. The only possible thing to use is technical vaseline.
Willie
I'm wondering if the squeaking is not the result of the door being slightly loose, allowing it to move around just enough to rub the plastic part. Is there anyway to tighten up the fit?
Daniel Dow
Dormant thread here, I know, but I thought I'd toss in my 2 cents. Response to Erik - My 2011 TC has about 28k on it now, but when it was new I noticed a creaking noise coming from the mid section of the body when going over unever terrian and potholes as well. It worried me a little bit and I was not able to narraw it down as you had, but after a couple thousand miles the noises ceased. My guess is that whatever (in)tolerance in the fit of the body parts eventually found a finished fit once the vehicle was fully broken in, which may or may not be contributing to the reason for my question below. My Question-The action of the sliding doors started out smooth and quiet but now make a racket when I open them, so I'm considered tuning the rollers/tracks up a bit to see if it helps. Anyone have a good how-to response?
