RJM
Has anyone had any experiences yet with the following TC specific hitches? Curt Mfg 12076 Class 1&2 Curt Mfg 13076 Class 3 Curt Mfg 56090 Connection kit www.curtmfg.com Valley Trailer Hitch VA82544 http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/c-850-ford-transit-connect.aspx I find it interesting that 2 leading hitch manufacturers have developed products for the TC, but towing is not recommended by Ford. Also interesting is the fact (found here ) that there are existing nuts welded to the underbody designed for accepting a hitch. Hmmm

Hmmm I totally agree. I think Ford just hasn't jumped through all the BS goverment hoops at this point.

ncranchero
Yes I have installed a class 5 hist on mu transit A Class 5 ????????? OMG, that's quite optimistic! :hysterical: Class 5: Any Trailer hitch with capacity greater than 10000# gross trailer weight and 1000-1200# tongue weight. Usually a 2.5" receiver or in some special cases a 2" receiver. "Getting up to speed fast" is a phrase that should never be used in association with a TC ! U-Haul  won't even rent a trailer to tow behind a Sport Trac ( with a 12,000 lb tow rating ) because of the Explorer fiasco years ago. They will rent to a Transit Connect? I bet that will result in some interesting crashes! Edited August 25, 2010 by ncranchero
