Ok, During a recent visit to my local Ford dealership for my scheduled oil change, I mentioned a foul odor coming from the air vents whenever the A/C is first turned on and they told me to change the cabin air filter. Sounded like the logical solution to the problem. So I spent $27.00 and went home to begin the ridiculous task of getting to the location of the filter. Well, most of you may have already learned that the Transit Connect does NOT have a cabin air filter. I learned of this only after reading many posts but I was curious as to why the dealership did not inform me prior to the purchase. No big deal...so now I have one. The install took me 10 minutes..very easy. But the OEM filter barely fit in the spot and the plastic cover that must be removed prior to filter installation can not be put back on once the filter is in place. Oh by the way...I was told not to lose my keys...the machine that cuts the keys is only in Turkey and the cost is in outterspace.
  2. If you have the original tires....and fill to 39lbs...the light will stay lit...but if you fill to 49lb as indicated on label on door jam, the light should go out. I had the same issue here in Houston....the dealer should have known this. Give it a whirl and let me know if that solves your problem! C-ya
  3. Well....glad to know that I'm not the only one...my passenger door seal is hanging down....15k miles..how funny! The dealer wanted to put some crazy glue on it..I told them to keep their hands off...that mentality is the reason why Ford quality SUCKS

  5. Hello Newbie, If you already have the answer, great...if not, open your hood and look above your headlight bezel toward the inside of the engine compartment...you will see a hole. Look down the hole and you will see a TORX adjustment screw. Turning counterclockwise should allow you to lower your lights to acceptable levels. I shined the lights on my garage door to level the lights, them took to the streets to see if anyone would flash me (with their highbeams)....no complaints since. I've owned the TC since November.
  6. Hey Roland, Good tips....I've done all that except for adding jute. The Recir. option is indeed the best way and is used 100% of the time. My only question was: is anyone having A/C issues? I found it to be less than normal for the A/C to have to work so hard. I've had larger vans in the past...no issues. That's it. No need for additional comments...seems like an isolated issue. C-Ya
  7. Wow....did you think of that yourself? Sounds like a dandy idea if you're Griswald. Thanks for your input, but I think I'll ask the dealer to check things out. Even a cheap truck like the TC should have a decent air conditioner...oh wait, it was made in Turkey.
  8. Has anyone experienced a slight delay in the accelerator pedal mostly in the morning, or if the TC sits for a few days? This is something new that is happening to my TC... I am also having to keep my A/C running on high most of the day...yes, I know it's only 95 degrees outside, but driving on the highway for several hours, I shouldn't have to keep it on high all the time. (not in stop and go traffic either) If anyone else is having issues like this, please post them...I want to make sure it's just not my Turkish Van JK
  9. I purchased this rack system at Home Depot ($70) You'll have to modify the brackets to contour to the curves in the truck. Works awesome! I installed the rack myself. Expect it to take you about 2 hours. I use bungee cords to secure my step ladder and cart. Justin
  10. Roland, The reason the antenna is shaped funny (like a twist) is because it is a "diversified antenna" similar to the antennas used on many foreign cars. That allows better reception on a poor ground plain. (like a non-electrical booster) Some cars that offer a diversified antenna also have part of the antenna implanted into the glass (front or back) because the glass is a poor ground (insulator) In my old shop, if we got in an older nissan maxima with the antenna wire cut, we used to solder on a new adapter and then ground the copper braid of the antenna wire to the chassis of the car. That worked great with little if any reception issues. (it was cheaper than replacing the entire cable) If you substitute the OEM mast with and aftermarket, you can almost kiss AM goodbye, and will lose some, not all FM stations. Since I have XM radio I don't care if my antenna is off...but I can't listen to my favorite talk radio! Your receptions issues may improve dramatically once you upgrade your receiver with a more powerful headunit. JK
  11. Hello guys, I am experiencing the same problem...so I removed my antenna completely. Be careful when using even a short antenna...because when you back out of your garage the rear of the van will drop slightly lower than the front (duh) and may cause even the small antenna to get jammed on your garage door. It is a snug fit to begin with. Only other suggestion is to purchase a glass mount antenna and affix it to the inside of the windshield. (if you own a classic car, you'll understand) You need to get an antenna adapter from Best Buy (Metra VW-20) this will allow you to plug the male end into the factory radio. Hope this helps!   12. Hello everyone, Only 5200 miles on my lovely new Ford and noises that are common in cars or trucks over 100k miles are present....what the hell? Annoying noise #1 Drivers arm rest...squeeks whenever I move my arm or when I hit a bump #2 The passenger door lock motor is starting to make a high ptich whine when unlocking (sure tell tale of a failing motor) WTH? #3 When I turn the engine off I can hear the A/C vents under the dash make a clunking sound...like a door closing...that sound was not there before! #4 Why are my brakes starting to squeel already? I mostly drive highway miles and keep my truck extremely clean #5 When closing the rear doors..the rubber grommet is always getting pinched....this is a wonderful example of design issues. #6 The biggest pet peev....the interior is WAY TOO easy to scratch...the material used to contruct the plastic components is terrible! The inside of my truck look likes I turned a wild cat loose! come on people..you can't explain your way out of that! Okay...I love my truck, don't get me wrong...but dammit I owned a Scion TC since 2005 and the only issue I ever had was I had to change the brakes...at 50K miles! Sorry Ford fans...as much as I agree with you about keeping Ford strong, there has got to be a time when you just throw your arms up with frustration and just say...this is BS. Not sure about you, but owning a vehicle (even a 22k vehicle) and having to worry about the quality and durability..just bothers me. I took a chance buying a Ford again..even though I experienced similar issues in the past....maybe it's just me, but I have a problem with little flaws like this..not saying other manufacturers don't have issues...but little issues turn into big issues and cost the owner more than it should. Come on Ford Sorry, but I needed to get that off my chest!
  13. Just hit 5000 on mine....no complaints other then excessive road and wind noise. I've noticed that much of the wind noise is coming from the passenger side window toward the front. My biggest compliant right now is the rubber loom between the rear door and the main body. They are always getting pinched....eventually they will crack or the washer fluid will cease to flow. Did they fire the guys in quality control? or did they not have customer input on design as does Toyota? We also own a 2006 Toyota Sienna van..LOVE IT...we really want the new 2011 Sienna van...talk about reading the minds of consumers. They have everything in there that makes sense to the average family. (sad to hear about the issues pertaining to Toyota, but I will still remain a loyal customer...75% of the vehicle is made here in America) sorry to rant...but yes, I still enjoy and are happy with my TC. JK
  14. From what I've read....I think you get credit for sales tax if you're in a state that collects sales tax...if not, customers will be able to deduct other types of taxes. Not sure if getting 1/2 of your purchase price back is accurate...would be nice. If so, please direct us to the site that explains the process. Thanks!
  15. Dave, My radio fits fine. The only issue I had was routing the cables for my amp. If you remove your glove box you can reach in there and pull the wires back thus allowing you to mount the radio. The radio, without the face is flush with the pocket. With the face on it looks great. The kit fits awesome...no rattles. Crutchfield is okay, but they really need to try to install one first. JK
  16. Not sure if I have that option....is that standard with all TC's? I use my Garmin Nav as my blue tooth device..

  19. For my purpose, I installed them to stay...although you can remove them if needed...just too time consuming to install and remove and repeat. JK
