Ford Brings Custom Transit Connect Wagons to Maker Faire 2014; Makers Get a Chance to Meet the Unminivan Two new custom Ford Transit Connect Wagons, Hackmobile and Happy Mutant Mobile, will be on display at Maker Faire – an all-ages event for the do-it-yourself enthusiast Ford and MAKE magazine teamed up in the construction of Hackmobile, the ultimate Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourselfer, and Happy Mutant Mobile, which was personalized for the Web-based magazine Boing Boing All-new Ford Transit Connect Wagon, the #unminivan, is available as a five- or seven-seat vehicle that can be paired with one of two fuel-efficient engines – a 1.6-liter EcoBoost® or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Ford and MAKE magazine will show two creative takes on personalizing the all-new Transit Connect Wagon as part of Maker Faire, an all-ages event celebrating the do-it-yourself spirit. FORD TRANSIT CONNET FORUM - MAKE magazine put on the first Maker Faire in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area, bringing together tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, hobbyists, engineers and artists. It has since grown, with several Maker Faire events taking place around the world. Last year, about 195,000 people attended the two flagship Maker Faire events, held in San Francisco and New York. This year, Maker Faire events will take place in more than 60 cities in North America and beyond. Hackmobile and Happy Mutant Mobile Transit Connect Wagons will make a public appearance on Thursday, May 15, at TechShop in San Francisco before going on display at Maker Faire, Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and May 18, at San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, Calif. The vehicles will also be on display at Maker Faire in New York later this year. “Transit Connect Wagon is exactly what customers want it to be,” said Minyang Jiang, brand manager for Ford Transit Connect Wagon. “Whether it’s used as a people mover or to carry cargo, the spirit of the vehicle is in how it can be transformed by its owners to express their passions. We think these two vehicles are a perfect example of the unminivan, of how to inspire the imagination in a new way.” Hackmobile, a fabricating workshop on four wheels, was the winner of MAKE magazine’s Ultimate Maker Vehicle Challenge, a competition that saw 10 teams vie to create the ultimate Ford Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourself enthusiast. As part of winning the contest, Ford commissioned California-based builder CGS Motorsports to build Hackmobile. The winning design team, Twin Cities Maker, is part of a Minnesota-based community nonprofit that operates a shop called Hack Factory, where members build projects and hold classes for the community. The concept was for a Transit Connect Wagon to be designed and built around a machine the team dubbed “The Fabber” due to its use as a multipurpose tool in fabricating. Hackmobile has shelving and storage for tools to do woodworking, metalworking and 3D fabrication. Happy Mutant Mobile was developed in collaboration with MAKE magazine and Boing Boing, a Web-based magazine devoted to technology and culture. Boing Boing’s editors designed Happy Mutant Mobile to be as original as its name, serving as an official vehicle for the site. The custom-designed exterior features a large screen that can roll down to show outdoor movies, a hood ornament that blows bubbles and LED signs mounted to the roof. The interior is decorated in dark custom woodwork and green leather upholstery. It houses a mix of oddities and knickknacks, a 3D printer, camera equipment, magazine rack and computer equipment. Theresa Contreras of California-based LGE*CTS Motorsports, which served as builder on the project, said the whimsical design features, like the bubble machine on the hood, make it one of the most unique builds the team has worked on. “Transit Connect is a great platform for any build of this magnitude, or for the weekend warrior, for that matter,” Contreras said. “It’s amazing that the minute everyone lays eyes on this vehicle, they start thinking about how they would use it. I’ve heard everything from office desks to mountain bikes to band equipment. The unminivan can be a vehicle for everyone.” The 2014 Transit Connect Wagon went on sale in North America earlier this year as an affordable alternative to customers looking for something new and functional in a five- or seven-seat people mover. With its dual sliding side doors, fold-flat second- and third-row seating, a maximum payload of 1,270 pounds, more than 100 cubic feet of cargo space, choice of a rear liftgate or side-hinged cargo doors and a starting MSRP of around $25,000, Ford Transit Connect Wagon takes adaptability to a new level.

Fuel efficient, flexible, uniquely styled and fun to drive, Transit Connect Wagon is an affordable people mover for families and active individuals who want to be ready for whatever life brings. “Ford’s all-new Transit Connect Wagon is unlike anything else,” said Minyang Jiang, Transit Connect brand manager, Ford Motor Company. “It drives like a car, has the flexibility of a utility and can haul the payload of a full-size pickup. This new wagon is a great combination of affordability and functionality – a unique global vehicle we’re proud to offer our customers.” Transit Connect Wagon is now on sale in North America at a starting price of around $25,000. It is available in two wheelbase lengths – a five-passenger with removable seating or a seven-passenger with fold-flat seating. It offers sliding side doors, a choice of a rear liftgate or side-hinged cargo doors, more than 100 cubic feet of cargo space and a maximum payload of 1,270 pounds. Available trim levels include XL, XLT and the range-topping Titanium. Customers can select from two fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines – the standard 2.5-liter with an EPA-estimated rating of 28 mpg on the highway, and a 1.6-liter EcoBoost® with an EPA-estimated rating of 29 mpg highway. Both engines are paired to a six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission designed for smooth driving around town and efficiency on the highway. Award-winning Transit Connect: Fun to drive, Built Ford Tough Transit Connect Wagon shares Ford’s global C-platform with the sporty Focus model, making it easy to maneuver in parking lots while being fun to drive on curvy roads. Torque vectoring control technology, which uses the brakes to provide stability through turns, is responsible for the fun handling characteristics the vehicle offers. Transit Connect Wagon has been designed, engineered and tested to meet Ford’s rigorous Built Ford Tough durability standards. The testing equivalent of more than 3 million miles includes 250,000-plus miles in such demanding conditions as gravel roads, tracks that mimic rugged environments and pothole-damaged pavement. The vehicle was introduced in Europe in 2002, and now, the 2014 Transit Connect van has been named International Van of the Year by a panel of European auto media. It debuted in North America in 2009, quickly becoming a fleet favorite for its size and capability as a hauler of people and cargo. Now, with the arrival of the all-new Transit Connect Wagon, retail buyers have a fresh alternative to the traditional people mover. The Transit Connect lineup posted its strongest annual sales in 2013, with just under 40,000 units sold, up 12.7 percent from 2012. Since its U.S. introduction, more than 150,000 Transit Connect models have been sold. 2014 so far has been the best year for sales of the wagon model. California is the largest retail area for Transit Connect Wagon and van. The growth in this market is 300-plus percent more than the minivan segment, which grew by about 10 percent in the first quarter of 2014. As unique as its buyer Transit Connect Wagon and Transit Connect van offer spacious interiors and customization options that allow owners to personalize the vehicle to their lifestyle. Ten custom-built Transit Connect vehicles were showcased at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in November, demonstrating a range of potential uses – from a cross-country cruiser loaded with technology to a mobile video gaming station. “Transit Connect Wagon fans are among the most passionate Ford customers, using their vehicle as a way to express their interests, hobbies and entrepreneurial spirits,” said Jiang. “From a support rig for a BMX bike team to a mobile workshop, customers have made great use of its spacious interior and flexible seating. “Moreover, its starting price leaves some change in customers’ pockets that they can use for their passions, the things they really love in life,” Jiang added. The short-wheelbase, five-passenger wagon model allows for the second row to flip, fold or be removed entirely. It features 77.1 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the first row with the second-row seats flipped forward, and 46.9 cubic feet of volume behind the second row. The long-wheelbase, seven-passenger wagon model has second- and third-row seats that fold flat. It has 104.2 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the first row with the second and third row folded flat; with passengers in the second row, cargo volume reaches nearly 60 cubic feet. The wagon model’s interior roominess is especially notable for its headroom, which bests many other seven-seat vehicles. Available headroom in the first row is 46.8 inches, with 45.1 inches in the second row. The long-wheelbase model has 41.3 inches of headroom in the third row. The excellent headroom Transit Connect Wagon offers led to Tall Clubs International recently naming it the official vehicle for the “vertically gifted.” Drivers and passengers looking to store their stuff will find two overhead storage options in Transit Connect Wagon – an overhead storage shelf with retaining net and available aircraft-style overhead storage for rear passengers. Additionally, there’s room for small items on the floor under the first-row passenger seat. There is a second-row storage compartment in the long-wheelbase wagon model. Advanced driver and safety technology Transit Connect Wagon customers will benefit from the availability of popular driver-assist technologies and advanced safety features. Available driver-assist features include a rear view camera, and forward and rear-sensing systems. The rear view camera shows what is behind the vehicle on a screen located in the center dash panel. The display’s color-coded guidelines and zoom feature help the driver align the vehicle, which is especially beneficial when towing. At low speeds, ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper alert the driver to objects behind the vehicle, while front sensors warn of objects at the front. The closer an object is to the vehicle, the faster the beeps sound, escalating to a constant tone. Industry-exclusive Ford MyKey® technology is available, which can be programmed to limit top speed and audio volume, encourage seat belt use, and restrict incoming calls and texts to a paired cell phone. The 2014 Transit Connect Wagon features side airbags for front-row occupants and side curtain airbags for all rows. The vehicle has earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the government’s highest possible overall rating.

Ford Transit Connect Winter Tires Ford Transit Connect Forum - Driving on winter tires provides added safety and peace of mind in wet, snowy and icy conditions. Stopping distances are reduced, grip is greatly increased and the construction and tread pattern of winter tires is designed specifically to cope with extreme weather conditions. 1) Why should I fit winter tires? Primarily winter tires are designed for temperatures below 70C or 44.6 F. They are safer in cold conditions, wet or dry , because the tread compounds heat up quicker to create better grip in lower temperatures. Winter tires use a higher proportion of natural rubber in the tread, minimizing the hardening effect at low temperatures. This results in a higher level of grip providing improved braking distances compared to standard summer tires - 10% in rain, 20% in snow. 2) Are winter tires only for use in snow? Winter tires are not ‘snow’ tires and will outperform standard summer tires in all conditions below 70C or 44.6 F, not just snow and ice. The wider grooves on the winter tire tread pattern are more effective in slush as well as snow, giving additional traction. The large amount of ‘sipes’ in the tread area create a large number of biting edges which interlock with the surface conditions and improve braking and traction/acceleration. Sipes are tiny slits in the tread blocks that run across the width of many winter tires: they allow better contact between the tyre and wet, muddy and icy roads. The rubber compounds used for winter tires are much softer, which prevents hardening at cold temperatures resulting in improved handling. 3) How do winter tyres perform in wet conditions? Modern high-performance standard tires have a harder tread compound which is engineered to ensure grip at medium/high temperatures. The molecules in the tread rubber freeze and harden as temperatures fall, thereby increasing the risk of aquaplaning and increasing braking distance. When temperatures drop below 70C or 44.6 F, winter tiresretain more flexibility and are less prone to aquaplaning. 4) Why should winter tyres be fitted in sets of four? Tires need to perform consistently, particularly braking in severe weather conditions. Fitting winter tires only on the driving wheels is not recommended. If your car is front-wheel drive and the winter tires are only fitted on the front wheels you risk spinning. If your car is rear-wheel drive and the tires are only fitted on the rear wheels you risk sliding off the road while turning. You should ensure that all tires are of the same speed rating and load index. Consequently a mix of winter tires and standard summer tires should not be fitted to your vehicle. 5) Do Winter tires affect my insurance? While winter tires should reduce the risk of accident when temperatures drop below 70C or 44.6 F, their fitment may be viewed as a modification. They should be in line with the motor manufacturer’s specification and fitted by a reputable dealer. Although fitment of winter tires should not affect your insurance premium, it is best practice to notify your insurance company. 6) If I fit winter tires do I have to drive more slowly? Winter tires have a lower speed rating than standard summer tires. However the lower speed rating should be adequate in winter conditions – for example dropping down from a V rating (max 149 mph) to an H rating (max 131 mph). 7) Do I have to fit winter tires when driving in Europe? Before travelling to Europe in the winter months you should check the legislation as winter tires are mandatory in some countries such as Austria, Germany, Finland and Sweden. You should also note that some countries require a higher minimum tread depth (e.g. 3mm) than the legal minimum of 1.6 mm in the UK. 8) What happens when temperatures rise above 70C or 44.6 F? As the average temperatures between October and March are below 70C or 44.6 F., you should consider waiting until April before changing back to standard summer tires.

2014 Ford Transit Connect Gets Sizzling New Look Courtesy of Hot Wheels for SEMA • A Ford Transit Connect cargo van becomes the ultimate fantasy ride that any kid – big or small – would want to drive, courtesy of Hot Wheels® • The Hot Wheels® Transit Connect is loaded with custom features inside and out, including two 18-inch tablets, a 55-inch television screen, gullwing doors and a built-in Hot Wheels® drag strip • With a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, the Hot Wheels® Transit Connect is the perfect vehicle to haul the Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost®-powered custom Rip Rod™ FORD TRANSIT CONNECT FORUM - Ford Motor Company’s 2014 Transit Connect is tearing up the Las Vegas Strip with a sizzling new look courtesy of Hot Wheels®. The Hot Wheels® concept of the Transit Connect cargo van, unveiled today at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, has been transformed from a versatile people mover to a race-ready hauling machine that any kid – big or small – would want. The Hot Wheels® brand, which has produced more than 4 billion toy cars since it was introduced by Mattel in 1968, unveiled its first life-size car in 2001 at SEMA. “The Hot Wheels design team jumped at the chance to hot rod a Transit Connect van,” said Felix Holst, vice president of creative for Mattel Wheels Division. “The idea was to create a race-inspired support vehicle for the average guy to spend a weekend at the track testing his Hot Wheels race car.” “The Hot Wheels Transit Connect features an entirely custom, euro-look wide body kit, Rotiform ROC wheels, sleeping quarters and tool storage for living the dream that most of us had playing with Hot Wheels as a child,” Holst added. “It even has slide-out drawers to keep your favorite Hot Wheels cars with you at all times.” For this job, Michigan-based custom builder Ice 9 Group worked with designers from Ford and Hot Wheels®, taking a Transit Connect down to its basic elements and rebuilding it from the ground up, creating a one-of-a-kind dream machine. “We basically reskinned a new vehicle,” said Keith Strong, president of Ice 9 Group. “We did all the computer-aided drafting and tooling, removing the old body panels and crafting a whole new look. Every single aspect of the exterior is different, including the roof. The idea was to show just how far out you can take a vehicle like this – a small van – that isn’t typically thought of when you go to SEMA.” The Hot Wheels® Transit Connect, powered by a 2.5-liter Ti-VCT four-cylinder engine, has been widened 4 inches in front and 6 inches at the rear. It features functional custom exhaust ports on either side, gullwing doors in place of the sliding doors, new front fascia and bumpers inspired by Focus RS, and custom 20-inch wheels. The interior of the Hot Wheels® Transit Connect has also been customized, with a Sortimo® secondary floor installed covering a set of drawers for tool storage, a 55-inch television screen, two 18-inch tablets and custom Recaro® seats from a Focus ST. The tablets are installed in the rear doors. The television screen is installed in a bulkhead behind the front seats. Two Hot Wheels® orange tracks are recessed in the bed, forming a drag strip right down the center of the van. Making use of Transit Connect’s towing capability, a custom trailer is hitched up to carry Rip Rod™, which is powered by a 1.0-liter EcoBoost® engine. Rip Rod™ was designed and built by Hot Wheels® in 2012. Fans will get a chance to have their own Hot Wheels® Transit Connect in the form of a 1:64 die-cast scale model when it arrives on store shelves in fall 2014. The Hot Wheels® Transit Connect is one of 10 custom Transit Connect vehicles Ford is featuring at this year’s SEMA show. Ford Transit Connect, named International Van of the Year 2014, launches as two distinct models – the traditional, hard-working cargo van, a panel-side hauler; and Transit Connect Wagon, a stylish, spacious and fuel-efficient people mover. The new Transit Connect vehicles will be in showrooms in early 2014.

Ford Helps Businesses Design Ultimate ‘Billboard on Wheels’ Through New Custom Graphics Tool • Ford helps business owners design, quote, share and purchase custom-designed vehicle wraps through redesigned and simplified Ford Commercial Graphics tool • Improvements to the tool include access to more than 5 million images from the library of Getty Images, and an on-call designer to help businesses design their brand image • Custom options are available for the all-new Ford Transit family; the tool can be used by both small and large businesses to create a custom “billboard on wheels” FORD TRANSIT CONNECT FORUM - Entrepreneurs and businesses that want to develop the ultimate “billboard on wheels” now have access to Ford’s redesigned custom vehicle graphics site, www.fordcommercialgraphics.com. Improvements to the Ford Commercial Graphics tool have made the process of creating, ordering and purchasing vehicle wraps simpler than ever. The tool’s cleaner interface, ability to better customize images visually and streamlined ordering process provides customers with more control than ever to develop their brand image, said Kevin Koswick, Ford’s director of North American fleet, lease and remarketing operations. “The site accommodates a variety of designs and budgets – from businesses that operate a single vehicle to larger fleets,” Koswick said. “Graphics are a tremendous way to make a first impression and the retooling of this site helps customers make a better design more easily.” For even more choices and inspiration, customers now have the ability to tap into more than 5 million images from the library of Getty Images, a world leader in stock photos. Customers also can upload their own pictures. A new service through 3M, the company that produces Ford Commercial Graphics, allows customers to work with on-staff designers to develop a theme for their vehicle, helping businesses enhance their brand. “It’s a true advantage to have design experts take customers through the design process of their vehicle wrap,” Koswick said. “The business still has control over the design of its graphic, but our team can help them refine their brand image.” All production is done in-house, and installation is handled by the customer’s certified Ford dealer or a specially trained installation company obtained through the dealer. Designs are covered with a clear over-laminate to add durability to the product and lessen the effects of UV light on the material. Graphics are designed to last from three to five years. The site also allows customers to share their designs through social media sites including Facebook, giving businesses the opportunity to become even more interactive with their community and receive early feedback on designs. Operators of the original Ford Transit Connect were among the first to take advantage of customizing their vehicles through this graphics service. Now Ford offers the option throughout its fleet of commercial vehicles so that customers of F-Series Super Duty, E-Series, the new Transit Connect and the upcoming Transit van can raise awareness for their business. “One of the strengths of Ford’s commercial vehicles, like the Transit family, is that they are available in several configurations that can be easily customized for small-business owners,” said Koswick. “This website mirrors that versatility to allow customers to create their vision of the ideal rolling billboard for their business.”

Providing a stylish and professional appearance, the Transit Courier demonstrates the dynamic character of Ford’s global design language with its strong rising shoulder line, slim headlamps and high-mounted signature trapezoidal grille. Rugged bumpers and bodyside mouldings provide added protection and minimise repair costs. The cabin offers an ideal mobile-office environment, with smart stowage including a “mega-centre” console capable of storing A4 documents and small laptops; overhead stowage; and a storage drawer under the driver’s seat. In addition, a multi-fold dual passenger seat now enables van models to carry up to three people in the cab. The Kombi and Double-Cab-in-Van models offer seating for five, or seven in the L2 Kombi model, and deliver flexible rear seat configurations with a movable mesh bulkhead. The L2 model also offers a unique fold-flat seat capability that optimises loadspace from the front passenger seats rearwards and accommodates loads of up to 2 m. The Transit Connect targets best-in-class fuel efficiency offering an improvement of up to 30 per cent over the current model; as well as reduced cost of ownership through minimised maintenance and repair costs with extended service intervals. The powertrain line-up includes the highly-efficient 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel with a choice of 75, 95 and 115 PS, and the 100 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, as well as a version of the acclaimed 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine that is available with a six-speed automatic transmission. Ford ECOnetic Technologies that help to minimise fuel consumption include Auto-Start-Stop and Active Grille Shutter. Unlike many rivals which are tested like passenger cars, the all-new Transit Connect has been subjected to Ford’s ultra-stringent commercial vehicle testing and durability standards, covering millions of miles of arduous testing in laboratories, at proving grounds and on customer fleets. The all-new model also builds on the Transit Connect’s reputation for outstanding security: the improved remote locking system now offers two channels for enhanced security and can be fully configured to the customer’s needs, while anti-tamper shielding of the door lock latches prevents destruction of the locks by drilling or chiselling. The new model offers a stylish cockpit with car-like design and craftsmanship, smart stowage solutions, and the latest Ford driver assistance features and interior technologies. Transit Connect is the first in its class to offer Active City Stop and Tyre Pressure Monitor, and features Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance. Deliveries are due to start by the end of 2013. All-New Transit Custom The all-new 1-tonne Transit Custom “International Van of the Year 2013” now on sale across Europe is the first vehicle in its segment to achieve a maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating. Now Ford is adding a spacious new high-roof version which makes its global debut in Birmingham. This provides customers with an extra 370 mm of height in the load compartment, increasing the distance from floor to roof to 1.78 m. The high roof option is available on both SWB (L1) and LWB (L2) versions to create a class-leading maximum load volume of 8.3 m3 on the larger model. Customers can specify the high-roof with the same wide range of gross vehicle weight and powertrain options as the standard roof model, and in van and kombi bodystyles. The high-roof model will be available for customer delivery in the last quarter of 2013. The all-new Transit Custom offers class-leading load-carrying ability, and innovative loadspace features including a load-through hatch in the bulkhead for extra-long items, and the integrated roof rack available for the low roof versions which can be folded away when not in use for better fuel economy while keeping overall vehicle height under two metres (except 330 GVM models). Class-leading fuel economy with CO2 emissions from 159 g/km* for the ECOnetic versions is delivered by the improved 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel with Auto-Start-Stop, while cost-of-ownership is further minimised by the longest service intervals in the class at two years/50,000 km/30,000 miles. The Transit Custom delivers advanced Ford vehicle technologies including SYNC, Rear View Camera, Acceleration Control, Auto High Beam and Driver Alert. Two technology features – Lane Keeping Alert and SYNC Emergency Assistance – have been awarded Euro NCAP Advanced rewards, a first for a vehicle in this class. All-New Transit The largest of the next-generation Transit line-up, the all-new 2-tonne Ford Transit is scheduled for European launch in spring 2014 to bring a new level of capability and versatility to the medium commercial van market, with a comprehensive range of body styles and derivatives including Van, Double Cab-in-Van (DCiV), Kombi, Kombi Van and Bus models, plus Chassis Cab and Chassis Cowl versions. Vans are available in three different lengths and two different roof heights with multiple gross vehicle mass options of up to 4.7 tonnes. The purposeful, modern exterior design conceals a load area that meets distribution industry requirements and maintains its impressive payload capability. Innovative loadspace features make operator usage easier and more secure. Compared to the outgoing Transit, Ford has increased load volume by around 10 per cent model-for-model, with the largest “Jumbo” van now capable of swallowing up to 15.1 m3 of cargo. The all-new SuperJumbo Chassis Cab will accommodate 5 m floats or box bodies. The all-new Transit delivers minimised maintenance, repair and insurance costs, and targets best-in-class fuel economy. The latest 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel is offered with 100 PS, 125 PS, and 155 PS power ratings, and a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions will be available. An all-new interior, with a stylish and functional instrument panel, incorporates a range of smart stowage solutions. The cabin is significantly more spacious than the outgoing model, with increased shoulder room, head clearance and visibility, plus a more comfortable driving position with a fully-adjustable steering column. A wide variety of advanced technologies can also be specified, including the Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, Rear View Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Alert. Alongside the Transit Custom and Transit Connect models, the all-new Transit has been subjected to Ford’s ultra-stringent global commercial vehicle testing and durability standards, covering millions of miles of arduous testing in laboratories, at proving grounds and on customer fleets all around the world. This is even more significant with the new model, as for the first time ever the all-new 2-tonne Transit will be sold in the North American market where it will eventually take over from the best-selling E-Series range. -

Ford Transit Connect Forum - While the current generation Transit Connect was designed and trailored to cater to the fleet market, the next-geneation T.C. will incorporate a new design, which will have more appeal to retail customers. This will place the next Transit Connect directly is the cross hairs of such competitors as the Honda Element. While the upgrade might prove to be a boon for Ford's sales, it shouldn't effect the overall utility of the Transit Connect as fleet version will still be available.
