DarbukaDave: Here's a mounting option you may want to consider since it fits very close to where you mounted your temporary suction cup. It clips into the seams of the dash and has the same AMPS hole pattern as several of the RAM ball bases. But I don't have any personal experience with it. I forgot about it until I saw it in my old browser history. Each of the mounts also has custom versions for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Transit Connects.
