2013 TC XLT rear barn door panel modification

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am considering how to modify this door to insulate and also have a lift lock in place shelf i can do my cooking on. Yes i have a heat shield to deflect heat from the door panel. Has anyone done this, and have best advice? The clip holes on the metal are not terribly strong, i would have to maybe build a mounting frame to the existing holes, and maybe hinge a shelf, maybe magnetize it to keep it down against the door when not in use. Maybe also insulate the panel underneath? Help...having trouble getting started...

I made a small shelf for my rear door that folds  down when not in use.2016 LWB TC

Needed a cut out for wiper motor.

Not really big enough for coleman type stove.

I used this type of fastner(a type of expansion nut).Insert in the holes from the back and use machine screws through the plywood base.

NOTE: Get the proper OD for your holes.
