OnionPowder
Hello all. Noob Transit Connect owner here. Just want to start small upgrades and I've decided to install a hitch-type bike rack cause my best hobby so far is xc trail riding. This is the only bike rack I prospected so far, https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/vm1pz-7855100-ca.html fitted to my 2017 model. Any other suggestions? Is it practical or overpriced? any good source. All replies will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

mrjoelrobinson
I've been very happy with my 1Up hitch racks. I have single, double and quad setups. Costly, heavy and overbuilt...but worth paying extra for I think. I have also hauled 2 100lb Sur Ron electric dirt bikes on the back of my Subaru Crosstrek. Chip
I love to take my bike along when I travel. I’ve been carrying the bike secured to the driver-side wall of the cargo area. Works great until the van gets filled with other stuff, which all needs to be moved to unload the bike. I like having the bike inside for security and protection from the weather. Unloading is quick when the van is mostly empty and I can be off riding minutes after parking. But on the road, it’s not as quick because I first have to stack everything on the passenger side. A bike rack on the back of the van may be the practical solution. Also, considering getting a folding bike, but one thing at a time. My TC has a liftgate. How hard is it to move the rack and bike out of the way when you want to open the back of the van? How do you secure the bike when you park and step away? Fifty150
Check these out if you are worried about clearance for opening your liftgate.
Fifty150
As for security, you can lock the bike to the rack with a chain, steel cable, or Kryptonite type u-lock. But nothing is secure. A bike thief can cut through whatever security you have.
Ben.Rathkamp
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a door based rack system for Connects similar to the Thule Elite Van XT. I would prefer something like this to a hitch rack. Seems like it would have more options. https://www.thule.com/en-us/van-accessories/bike-racks/thule-elite-van-xt-bike-rack-for-vans-fiat-ducato-citroen-jumper-peugeot-boxer-ram-pro-master-black-_-302013
Phil0110
I use Thule T2 Pro XTR hitch bike rack. It has space for my 2 Tommaso https://www.bikethesites.com/road-bikes-under-2000/#product1 they're quite big. You can look at their size yourself. I am completely satisfied with the reliability of Thule, but it seems to me it's a bit overpriced.
