ILB
There is a SYNC-less option available for a Transit Connect XL (both passenger and cargo). It literally says 'AM/FM Stereo Receiver with Rear View Camera'. Does anyone know if this configuration can play MP3s via USB or CD? (again, no SYNC) It absolutely unclear from the manual. Contacting Ford customer service added no clarity. Dealers around don't have many 2019 TCs w/o SYNC and with a CD player. Before ordering one from the factory, I would really like to know whether I would be able to listen to any MP3 music... Fifty150
All new cars sold are now required to have the backup camera. My model year did not have the camera option. Just an AM/FM. That is all that it does. Literally, AM/FM. There is an auxiliary line in. You can plug in any audio device you want. For most people, with a modern smart phone, you can connect the phone head phone jack to the AM/FM auxiliary line in jack with a cable. This would allow you to control your music from your phone, and also play the audio from your phone call over the vehicle's speakers. You can play all the MP3 you want, with a MP3 player which broadcast to the AM/FM radio over an FM signal. Most of these players also connect to your phone's Bluetooth, which allows you to use your phone hands free. Most models will use a microSD card for loading music, and also offer USB ports, which will solve the problem of not having USB ports. These are very inexpensive and can easily be found on Amazon and eBay.
