Josef
Whenever I start my Ford Tourneo Connect 1.8 TDCI 2004, the glow plug indication light at the gauges, lights up for 2 seconds and turns off. Clearly it is not a sufficient time period for the plugs to heat up in cold weather hence, the starting is difficult. Do you have any idea why is that? What part sets the heating time? Is it the relay? is there a timer somewhere ? Is it managed by the ECU? Could the plugs be faulted (although I have replaced them 2 years ago)? Thank you in advance Josef
mrtn
There's a timer based on the outside temperature. Don't know if it's ECU driven or standalone. Glow plug condition has no effect on the timer duration. Always goes full time as needed even if all plugs are bad.
Josef
Thanks for your reply. Do you have any idea where is this timer located? I would like to check it or try to replace it.
mrtn
Don't know. There's a relay in the fuse box most likely. Might want to check that.
