Greetings! New to the forum and have been waiting for the TC to finally arrive stateside. Test drove a unit over a Ford approved performance road course last year and was favorably impressed which is why I'm here. Anyway, are you guys finding any haggle room during your purchase? I'm kinda used to paying 82-85 percent of MSRP out-the-door (including tax-title-license).

Thanks

UPDATE:

Put offers in today at $20,000 out-the-door (including taxes and fees and 0 down, 0% 36mo) for a Silver Clearcoat Metallic, Cargo Van 310A, XLT S6B with the 66B rear cargo 255-degree doors, and nothing else. Put the same offer in on a 2010 Jeep Patriot 4x4, E-package, manual trans with factory aluminum wheels (unlike the TC). Now we'll sit back and see which materializes.

Later

I'm real interested in what others are paying as even at $20K there just doesn't seem to be whole lot of truck here. Not when I consider I'm currently paying off a 0% 36 month 2007 Mercury Milan Premier V6 at $20360 out-the-door (and it can tow).

Just my 2 cents.

I was curious to see what the dealership said about your offer, I plan on buying a Wagon XL soon and I agree the 23500 MSRP is high for this vehicle with it being a bare bone vehicle.

Mike

VAN XL 300A $21730.00 sticker total (no options)

$22038.17 out-the-door for cash (including $500 rebate), no trade no financing

Different dealer:

VAN XLT 310A $23135.00 sticker total (66B only option, 255 degree rear door arms)

$25000.00 out-the-door for cash (including $500 rebate), no trade no financing

No thanks, looks like I'll be waiting a while longer, cooler heads have prevailed. Give me aluminum wheels a 5 or 6-spd manual transmission and just 20 more horses and then we'll talk.

There is about $1200 markup from MSRP to Invoice on the Transits. Our markup has been shrinking every year. On some vehicles Ford has lowered the MSRP from one year to the next buit raised our cost so it is a double whammy. The TC is in a completely different class. It is considered a work vehice and not to compete against minivans or SUV's. In the sebgment it is in, it is price pointed very well and commercial customers have taken to it extremely well. I have several repeat buyers.

If you are looking for frills and creature comforts, this is not the vehicle for you. it was not intended for family everyday use.

I understand and creature comforts was never my intent. I intended to convert it but I repeat, I'm disappointed that Ford brought the basic, underpowered vehicle to the states, and targeted the city delivery market. Maybe in a few years when it gets more power for out-of-town driving and 7% freeway grade climbing, I'll give it another look. In it's present form it's just $20K+ for a nice sheet metal body. I really tried to purchase one but hit so many dead ends I gave up. The vehicle was not worth over $20K to me. Ordered a Jeep Patriot 4x4 at $19K OTD with 172HP (136HP for Transit) 5-spd manual (automatic only for Transit) aluminum wheels (only steel wheels for Transit) 2000# towing capacity (towing not recommended for Transit) 4 wheel disc brakes (disk front, drum rear for Transit). I probably could have driven the Transit on the beach but the 4WD might be a little safer.

Nothing against you dealers making a buck but I think Ford is handcuffing you with their price.

That's the wonderful thing about these forums, there are many varied opinions equally valid in their own right. I have been selling Fords for almost 30 years; the past 20 in the commercial market. This vehicle was brought over here primarily as a commercial vehicle intended for the commercial clientel for which it fits that segment perfectly. You do not see the mainstream advertising to the public for it but it is advetised frequently in various trade publications. The intent of the vehicle was to make it a totolitarian delivery / service type vehicle for the US market. I personally do not feel handcuffed by Ford; on the contrary; I am delighted to have a vehicle like this to market to commercial prospects as there is nothing else in the marketplace to compet with it. It is a brilliant move by Ford. Commercial customers are a complete differetn breed than the typical retail personal use customer and the feedback has beed nothing short of fantastic.
