VT Surf Van
When I first bought my 2018 Connect a couple years ago, it would make a thump noise when I would turn the AC on. If the AC was left on, it would thump when I would turn the van on. The AC never had any issues, but I think I remember asking the Ford guys about it and they said it was normal.... Fast forward to the start of this summer, and there is no thump noise and the AC is not working. I try it every couple of days just to see if the thump and AC will come back. No thump, no AC. I wanted to get some opinions on this before I call and talk to Ford. I don't want them to start ripping apart my van and charging me thousands, trying to find a thump that doesn't thump anymore and an AC that doesn't work. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! Don Ridley
It may be a bad clutch on the AC. The clutch is on the front of the pulley and an electro magnet pulls it tight to turn the compressor. Check out some YouTube videos to see how they operate. You can see it activate and release when it's working properly.
