GetTransited
Did you finish the rear disc swap? Did the Focus spindles have the same bolt pattern to bolt onto the Mk1 axle? Do you have a part number for the Mk1 rear disc spindles? Did you consider the more commonly available Mk2 rear hub, spindles, breaks on a Mk1 axle?? Thanks
lowspeedpursuit Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM (edited) I dunno if jdob is still around, but I bought an extra sheet of 1/4" steel, went back to work full time, and never really had time to work on it again. I never found an Mk1 Focus rear disc spindle; they're vanishingly rare. The Mk2 TC hubs don't bolt up either. The Euro Mk1 TC rear disc spindle part numbers are 2T14-4A493-AD and 2T14-4A492-BD, but they're insanely expensive imports and you need the Euro calipers as well. Basically you have 3 options: 1. Buy all Euro rear disc parts like jdob. Expensive, takes a long time, end up with calipers that can't be easily replaced when they fail. 2. Fab brackets to adapt some other Ford caliper and figure out the parking brake. 3. Swap in an entire rear disc axle. For my time at this point, I'd probably be asking if there's any reason (wms or spring perch width radically different?) not to just install an entire Promaster rear beam and be done with it.
