I was told about this forum, so I thought I would come over and give it a try. My wife and I purchased a 2012 Transit Connect in the beginning of June so we can haul our bikes with us as we bike Florida and the U.S.. So far, it's been a great vehicle and a great way to travel with our bikes. We have driven it to Illinois (for some cycling) and back and it took to the interstate better than I had expected. We're really happy with this van.

Welcome! Do you have the van version or the wagon with the rear seats? I purchased the wagon only in October and still haven't tried putting bikes inside, though I've hauled a lot of other stuff. I am hoping they'll go in upright with no wheel removal .... any tricks and tips on keeping bikes stable would be welcome.

Hello there!

The Transit Connect is definitely one of a kind! I bough mine back in 2011 brand new and already have over 70K on it. My girlfriend and I enjoy camping and visiting national landmarks whenever we have the chance so I actually went ahead and converted the van into a RV. So whenever we want to go travel we just take the rear seats out and slide the RV unit in. When we are done, we just slide the unit out, and put the rear seats back on. We absolutely love this van! Not only that, whenever we go travel EVERYONE wants to check it out because of its unique features.

Although we are not professional bikers we actually had a bike rack mounted on the transit so we also take our bikes when we go camping just in case we encounter any cool trails around the way. Mounting the hitch is actually not recommended by Ford, but I did a little research on it and over in Europe is actually very common to add a hitch to it. As long as you don't over load it, which in our case we only have our two bikes, it works like a charm!

I see you are from Tampa, as a matter of fact i think the company we bought the unit from is actually tampa or right around there.

Good luck with your Transit Connect! You will LOVE this little van!
