ryanshea
During a lovely hour-long trip in 100 degree heat I noticed the AC stopped blowing cold, followed shortly thereafter by a crunchy crunchy noise. After pulling over I got this pic, but before I try ordering parts, I'd love some confirmation on this. I assume that this is the pulley on the accessory belt for the AC compressor, but my quick visual inspection does not show any problem with the belt - and I can't work out how just the back side (not visible) of the pulley could drop out like this. I look to you oh experts for identification (dead center in the image, yet far away) before I start yanking things apart.
ryanshea
I'm thinking this is the clutch from the AC compressor. Probably just replace the whole thing?
Don Ridley
I'm definitely not an expert, but the only pulley that has multiple pieces is the AC pulley and clutch. You may be able to reassemble it. There may be some washers/spacers that fell off also. Use a new compressor (return it when done) or a junkyard compressor to see how it goes together. ryanshea
Thanks Don, that is exactly the rough confirmation I was after. I appreciate it!
