pcmonkey
I own a computer repair company and I am in the process of building a mini itx computer to go into my 2010 ford transit connect. The only issue have ran into so far is determining the screen size. I want the largest screen possible that can fit into the factory double din area, however all double din kits for the transit are for 7" screens. I have found 7" touch screen monitors but that is smaller then I prefer. The hole in the dash is wider then taller so I'm thinking I may just have to modify the dash, worst case scenario. My questions is, what is the largest screen I can put into the factory hole in the dash? I want the screen to be completely maxed out to the edges of the dash, I do not want a dash kit that has 2" of plastic on the sides. This image gives you an idea, I understand this is not a real transit, this merely to show there is no plastic around the outer edges of the screen. indestructibleman
Looks to me like 7x4 is a pretty hard limit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_7736 there are some measurements for a double din tablet unit here. http://www.ugsage.com/eng/DOUBLE-DIN-car-dvd/7%E2%80%9DAndroid-Tablet-3G-WiFi-Double-Din-Car-GPS-DVD-Player-TD718A.html
jimmbomb
Samsung makes a P6800/ 6810 tablet that's 7.7 inch diagscreen size. have a look at them.. Those models I just quoted are international versions.. not available in brick and mortar stores in the US.. Online though, yes.. Verizon stores sells their version of the 7.7 inch tablet... good luck..
