Hi I had the common issue with the inconsistent heating and had the head gasket/ water pump/ belts etc done which solved the issue however when I got the van back it had no power and was very slow. The garage are telling me they’re unsure of why? Fault code said it was a turbo pressure issue however they have sent it off for testing and said it’s working fine (apparently). They also did a turbo clean when doing the head. Has anyone experienced this or have an idea on what would cause this? Thanks

Does anybody out there have any advice on adding a turbo charger to this vehicle? I am currently running super unleaded with some octane booster added and it accelerates like a scalded cat !, I’m interested in upping it to the next level with a turbo or supercharger and an engine remap , thanks .

For the few TC owners with 1.6L ecoboost engines there is a simple plug-in upgrade that will increase performance. The device plugs into the boost pressure sensor and allows the turbo boost pressure to be increased. The stock ecoboost tune shuts down the boost when the pressure is around 15 psi (per my brief testing). The boost module rescales the boost pressure signal so the ECU thinks 18 or 19 psi is the 14 psi shut down point. This is simple and effective. This increases torque and horsepower without modifying anything in the ECU. It leaves no warranty- voiding or emissions test-failing trace and installs in minutes. I wanted to install the Turbo Transformer, but it was out of stock and the company owner recommend a similar product by Flowmaster. I suspect Flowmaster may have purchased the technology from Turbo Transformer because the products are identical. I bought the Flowmaster Delta Boost Module. http://turbotransformer.com/ http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/performance-tuners/18102-flowmaster-delta-boost-module/?make=&year1=&model=&submodel=&engine=&category=&kw The most difficult part of the installation was locating the turbo boost pressure sensor. It is located in front of the left front wheel by the bottom of the radiator. Unplug the connector on the sensor and insert the Delta Boost Module. Tie wrap the box out of harms way. A phone app allows you to set the unit in valet, standard, sport or MAX mode. The app is clunky but it works. I made several 1/4 mile runs in various modes. THIS DATA IS NOT EXACT. The first, stock, runs were done a week prior and the other runs were on a windy day and I averaged runs to account for changes in wind and travel direction. Additionally the first run was on 87 octane and others were 91. I used an OBDII app for all measurements with the transmission in "S" mode with auto-shifting. 0-60 1/4 MILE BOOST(psi) Stock (87octane) 9.4 17.3 14.5 STANDARD mode 10.07 18.1 MAX mode 9.0 17.0 19.2 It is clear from driving the van that the extra boost increases horsepower and torque. I have driven about 2 weeks in the SPORT mode and it gives the van a noticeable boost without requiring 91 octane (Flow master warns that MAX mode must use 91). There is no pinging or other problems from using the module because the ECU properly controls all the functions required to properly run the engine. This modification gives you measurable gains. I have no desire to modify the tune, or the exhaust or the air intake but this modification is easy, effective and quickly reversible. FYI, I did not do a lot of test runs due to safety and logistic issues. Plus, I don't care about the exact numbers, I only wanted to see if there were relative, measurable differences. Now if Ford would only bring back the 1.6L engine to the US Transit Connect market....

I bought the Rousch Yates JMS BoostMax ECU controller for my 2016 Transit Connect Wagon 1.6 Ecoboost and have decided not to install it. I am so pleased with my results from the K&N 57s-4000 kit that I don't really need anymore horsepower. The kit is unused, but I did open the box just to look at everything. The part number is ryp-bmx1.6. This is the exact one I bought on eBay for $289 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roush-Yates-by-JMS-BoostMAX-Digital-Device-1-6-2-0-Ford-Ecoboost-/252498094259. I waited too long and they won't let me return it now so I'm willing to sell it for $200 + shipping to a forum member. If it's not sold here I'll offer it to the Escape and Focus guys. If you're not familiar with this thing here's the basics: It's a tuner that plugs into the MAP, TIP and pedal position sensors which increases boost pressure (up to +5 psi) along with maintaining the A/F ratio. There is a knob you can mount under the dash for on-the-fly adjustment of the boost. There is also an optional "87 octane chip" which replaces the knob (it basically puts the setting at 50% all the time). Claimed increase is 11 hp/20 ft-lbs with the 87 octane chip although I did see someone online saying they dynod +20hp to the wheels at 90% setting. This guy dropped 7/10ths of a second on his 1/4 miles time with the 87 octane setting http://www.imgrum.net/user/jmschip/849756481/1235183509146380785_849756481 so it certainly works. PM me if interested. I'm in no hurry to sell as I may end up changing my mind again and just installing it. It's pretty easy to install, plug-and-play with some wire routing.

I ordered a 2016 TC, short wheel base 1.6L wagon in late April. It arrived in California in early August. I am very happy with the 1.6L turbo engine. I had driven the 2.5L version and it was OK, but the turbo generates more torque at lower rpm and is more fun to drive. I ordered most of the options except for leather seats, SYNC and parking assist. My only regret is I bought the Quicklear windshield . This windshield has very fine heater wires that are almost invisible, but they diffract light at night and bug me. It is overkill for California weather and I may replace the windshield with a normal one. I have lots of projects and upgrades planned and will post them as they occur. So far the van is exactly what I wanted.
