When I purchased my 2015 Transit Connect Wagon, the dealer said it would be no problem to add a couple extra circuits for accessories at one of the fuse boxes. After working my way through several sales and service staff members, the “wiring specialist” finally determined that what I wanted was not possible since the spare fuse slots have no connections on the load side (see F43 at top left in photo below) and Ford won’t supply the parts to add them. So in the end I had to come up with my own solution. And knowing wiring but not cars, my first purchase was the wiring diagram book. I may not know how everything shown in it works, but I can make sure I only tie into something I can see documented and feel confident I understand. Initially I tried the basic auto store inline fuse holders with converted fuse legs as power taps. Although the connections were pretty good quality, strong silver solder and multiple layers of heat shrink, I didn’t like the holders just hanging loose and there were too many potential failure points. So after some searching I found some parts that make for a nice clean, almost bulletproof, wiring harness for accessories. I’ll apologize in advance for the length of this post up and I'll try to break it up into readable sections with a few photos each. I know I have a tendency to overdo the story telling, but I wanted to share what I learned along the way and why I chose to do it that way in the hopes it helps others with similar projects.

I've been digging around under my daughter's 2012 TC and found the customer access wires , 2 pass thru and 3 "fused" tiny wires . Missing is a "battery saver relay" CJB position #128 , 10 amp mini fuses at F155 , F 144 and F 149 . Also missing is the 25 amp fuse in position F 10 in the BJB under the hood . I rigged a temp fuse in F10 and the F149 wire got "hot". Turned the ignition on and F144 got "hot". But no relay to feed F155 (battery saver) circuit . My FORD parts guy looks up the cartoon , a bunch of sketches of different relays and CBs . No function description ,no real way to find the relay . Is it generic or specific to the battery saver circuit ? He says " bring in a part and we'll try to match it " ....... ? I'm glad I don't have his job , or have to try to fix these cars that way . He was going to ask the techs today if they had any guesses . So my question is ..... does any body in 1st gen TC land have this or installed this circuit ???? What relay did you use ???? The socket looks like the others in the CJB . Thanks for any help bros . PS , my service manager advised that those tiny wires ( from F155 , F144 , F149 ) are meant to signal relays , not to carry current .

I bought a small compressor to run off the cigarette lighter in the used but "new-to-me" 2010 Transit Connect I recently bought. The compresor is a "Slime" and said it was for truck and suv tires, well it ran for about 30 seconds and then as I tried to add air to the tire it sputtered out. I thought at first the little 150psi compressor died trying to inflate the truck tire, but now I have found the cigarette lighter no longer functions with any device. I changed fuse 143 (one for the lighter) even though it looked ok and still no accessory power. I decided to change a few other 15 amp fuses in an attempt to locate the "rear accessory fuse". I also changed all the 20 amp fuses (since one of them had a line down one side of the filament). I changed some of the 15 amp fuses in the underhood box as well , but still no aux power. I only changed the mini-fuses. Radio works, truck runs, not noticing anything else not working accept TPMS indicator is on. The only reason I even tried the little compressor was to reset the TPMS. I went to the gas station I tried for about 2 hours to reset the TPMS but it wouldn't let me past the passenger front wheel. I aired them all back to door reccomemdation. I have a Hayne's guide but it is for the UK models, and it has wiring/fuse information, but it appears the fuse numbers and fuse box layouts are different from US model.
