    Got the car back today and it shifts better than it ever has. They said one of the cv axles was binding, so it was replaced.The guy I asked wasn't sure which side it was, but said he thought it was the driver's. Hopefully this will be the last issue I have with this transmission for a while.

    Not really cold cold . Around 34 or so. Not a real long warm up. Maybe a minute or two. Then I drive conservatively until the gauge is in the normal range. Even when it's warm I usually drive for the best fuel economy because of the nature of my job... Lots of driving... The high rpm shake happened after driving it an hour so for sure everything was at temp. Haven't heard from the dealership today... I figured that a miss would at least flash the check engine light even if it didn't store the code (had this happen with my old car), but nothing was showing on the dash.

    Well... my 2014 tc is back in the shop. I have had a slight shake/vibration on cold mornings under load. It really wasn't that big of a deal, so I let it go chalking it up to a cold trans. Today I had to "get on it" (medium throttle) to get out in traffic and in the 4k to 5k rpm range in second gear, it shook so violently my GPS almost fell of the dash. I'm thinking it is something in the transmission. It doesn't really feel like an engine misfire, but I suppose anything is possible. And of course, no engine lights or whatnot. The guys at the shop seemed stumped when I was describing this to them. So the dealership stuck me in a fusion that I really kind of like, except for the lack of space problem. Anyone have a similar issue? Are there any tech pubs on this yet with the transit or escape, since they share power plants?
  4. I did some checking, and both of my ducts are attached. Hot air does feed to the rear at the feet, but the air coming out of the door vents is barely warm. The third row has no airflow whatsoever. When the cold temp is selected, cold air comes out of all of the door vents. I guess this is how ford intended it to work??
  5. It is finally starting to get cold enough for me to test my rear heat and... like so many others, it is barely warm. I did notice the vent tubing under the passenger seat was dislodged about a month ago when I was cleaning it and snapped it back into place... I guess i'll be contacting my dealership soon. My understanding is that the rear heat works from an electric heater and not the heater core??? What kind of design is that?
  6. I get that there has to be some play to help dampen the vibration, it just seems a bit too clunky for my taste. I'd give up some ride quality to smooth up the random rough downshifts and upshifts. Ah well, I'll be at the 10k mark soon enough and see what happens. It could just be me adjusting to a car that doesn't have a manual trans...
  7. Alright. Got under there tonight to do an oil change and so far no leak! I did find tons of grease... oh well. I wiped most of it away, but at least I know the cv axle was lubed, right? On another note, I've noticed that the trans is a bit rough when changing from reverse to drive and when downshifting sometimes. When I was under the car, I noticed one of the mounts looked really weak. It was secured correctly and not broken, but I could basically rock the engine back and forth with the wheel... I'll be looking to upgrade that thing asap if anyone knows of such a thing. Maybe something for the escapes would fit it? I think a poly mount would do wonders. On another note, I'm still battling with the dealership...
  8. bahavw, what cross bars are you talking about specifically? I'm very interested in doing anything I can to bump the fuel mileage up.

  10. Hey, sorry I haven't replied in so long... been super busy and fighting with the dealership about financing this vehicle, but that's a whole other can of worms. I haven't even crawled underneath the vehicle to check the transmission since the "fix" but I did shine a light around the cv axle area before a long road trip and didn't see any signs of the infamous leak. I had 1000 miles when I noticed the leak and have 4000 on it now. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
  11. So, I got my new 2014 connect xlt on last Thursday... it is currently in the shop after I dropped the belly pan only to find transmission fluid everywhere... They confirmed that it was the infamous cv axle seal. Getting a new axle and seal by Monday. The tech guy seemed convinced that this was an updated design that wouldn't have the same issue. I'm not so certain. I just traded my 40 mpg sonic for this thing and can't even drive it a week... so far not really impressed. The dealership did get me a loaner (edge bleh) but yeah. Anyway, I'll keep this thread updated if it does fix the problem because it seems that this is a pretty common issue.

    Newbie Here!

    Hello from Arkansas! Just got my dark blue transit connect xlt on Thursday. Love the space. Not so much the mileage or the transmission that already has a leak... but hopefully that will get fixed and I'll have a good car.
