Thanks for the pics, looks very well thought out and built. I plan on fabbing some window covers using reflectix also. I have not yet found any with black on one side but will probably paint it if not. Lots of stuff via google/youtube on making them for just this purpose. I have seen a bunch of good DIY-camper ideas on pinterest also. I thought it was just for women's clothing and crafts but it actually has a bunch of other useful things on there too...

Thanks for the info MB. If you get a chance, some pics of your new platform would be awesome...

Haha thought you were talking about the sportsmobiles. My bad, there are a few options for the shelving units. I have seen some on ebay go as a package deal, also on craigslist. I can find the links if you need them.

They are custom made in-house at each of the sportsmobile locations. I read somewhere that sportsmobile made the edelweiss campers on the TC for an rv rental company. http://www.campervannorthamerica.com/campervans-edelweiss.shtml

one of these might work are you needing an adapter? Or the wiring diagram? For adapters: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=ford+radio+wiring+adapters&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xford+transit+connect+radio+wiring+adapters.TRS0&_nkw=ford+transit+connect+radio+wiring+adapters&_sacat=0 or these http://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/ford_transit_connect.html?avf=N

Thanks for that, but I am talking about a "wagon" (aka passenger) version verses a cargo van. I have seen maybe 10 of the cargo versions converted into campers, but none of the wagons. Also, I plan on it being my daily driver so mpg's are a concern. Otherwise I'd go with one of these: http://www.sportsmobile.com/preowned-sportsmobile-texas-inc/

Anyone seen a TC LWB wagon made into a camper/multi purpose van? Just wondering if that would be a better route than a LWB cargo. pros: rear air outlets, removable seats/configurations, sunroof and other options, lots of windows, better resale? cons: uneven floor deck due to the seats, reduced space due to all the plastic paneling and rear ac ducting, more expensive What do you guys think? Any other positives/negatives to using a TC wagon? Thanks, -J

I'd love to see one that overcomes the short roof length issue with a fold out extension, like the one on the left from these guys: http://www.coloradocampervan.com/

Hahaha, I worry about that too. Haven't bought mine yet but on the light stays on thing, what about a rear door area mounted on/off lite switch that tricks the latch switch into thinking it's closed when it's open?

Thanks for the info on your experience. Logically I should wait because I qualified for over 3k in current rebates. They also said it was a 9wk wait but also said they are now being fully built in the US so I wonder if there will be any delays due to the new location. Wow, six months, admire your tenacity. They told me no down payment was required for the special order also, so technically I could walk away from it if they didn't offer the same expected rebates when it arrives. Lots to think about but I am in no great rush. I'll check out the costco route, thanks for that.

He doesn't look to be in business anymore. I have found someone in NC that does TC conversions, seems to do good work. https://www.youtube.com/user/robertmorehead Lots of stuff going on with these cars in the UK. If you go to their ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk) and search you can find some good conversions and related parts. I'm planning a build myself and would love to get some UK "rock n roll" style seats over here without paying waaaaay too much to ship it. Here's my favorite one so far, converted by Robert Morehead:

I sat down with the commercial vehicle sales manager at my local ford dealer and he was all set to let me order a 16 xlt long wheel base transit connect with an early September delivery date. I was interested in the two new 2016 add ons also, which he had order codes for. The only problem with ordering now he told me, is that he couldn't guarantee any of the current 2015 ford rebates. Like a 1500 ford transit connect discount, a military/recent school grad rebates. I can wait.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm currently shopping for a 16 xlt lwb. Dealer said if I ordered one it would show up in September. However there are no guarantees on any of the 2015 rebates currently offered so I am in limbo until September I guess... Anyways, some good info here so far, for how few members there are. Thanks again! -Jtek
