  1. I use my T/C for delivery 75% of the time. The rest of the time, it's used as a pleasure-craft.
  2. Prior to installing snow tires, I found the Transit Connect to be quite servicable in winter weather with all season radials. As a contract delivery driver in Upstate NY, I always use snow tires, begining in mid-December. As compared to my former Subaru all wheel drive, I found this vehicle to be almost as good as the Subaru for winter driving. I use the Transit for city, highway, and country roads. It's not as comfortable and quiet as commuter vehicles, but for a commercial vehicle, it's not all that bad.
  3. Where did you get those chrome wheel rings? I've never seen them before.
  4. I have had issues with my gas cap as well. I can unscrew it, but pulling it off is another matter. Once, I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to fill my tank because of it. It has loosened up a little over time.
  5. I have 23K on my T/C and average 25 MPG. Not always practical to vary speed for the first 1,000 miles, but I tried. I would stay off the cruise control for that break-in period. I would also reccomend not using the RESUME setting on the cruise control. It can race the rpm's up almost to the red zone.
  6. My T/C doubles as a work and play vehicle. We have a family car, but I find myself wanting to take the T/C on pleasure trips. My XLT has 15,000 miles on it and so far no problems (except the leaky top brake light that was fixed under warrantee). People are still coming up to me to ask about it.
  7. Let's not turn this site into a political rant.....
  8. Turns out there was a service bulletin regarding the leaking seal on the top brake light. They performed the prescribed repair with a kit ordered from Ford and I haven't had a problem since. All, of course, done under warrantee. I wouldn't wait too long, the issue could short out the interior dome light.
  9. I am experiencing a leak originating from the overhead brake light. If I'm parked so that water pools up around it, I get water dripping from the inside back dome light. Haven't had it checked out yet. Will post an update as soon as I get it serviced.
  10. My new set have been making an intermittent hum starting at exactly 60 mph. It's kind of annoying.
  11. Just took posession of my new T/C XLT Wagon last week. I'm very pleased at the gas mileage and maneuverability. So far, I've had 5 strangers come up to get a closer look and have all their questions answered about it. Everyone's so curious. I am a delivery sub-contractor in Rochester, NY and it's perfectly suited for what I do, and it doubles as a family car. I hope the front wheel drive will perform well in our winter weather. I plan on outfitting it with a set of 4 snows when the time comes. I've got a question that may pertain to tires, but not sure. The ride is quiet until I get up to 60 mph. That's when a cyclic humming starts. I think it's coming from the front end, and happens regardless of whether I'm accelerating or coasting. My vehicle came with Continental Conti-Pro-Contact tires, if this helps. I explained the issue to the service dept. where I bought the vehicle and they basically scratched their heads and stated that the new Transits on their lot do the same thing. I didn't do a test drive with the tech, so I'm not sure if he heard what I hear. I love everything else about this vehicle and am determined to find the problem, so that I don't have to listen to this on the many long road trips I'll be taking. Any input appreciated.
