  1. 7 Years later - Yup. I know. But I'm on this saga of finding the tall mirrors for Left Hand Drive and ship to US. Finally stumbled on this post after searching Germany and France ebay to limited success. Should I care the brand VIEWMAX is not OEM? Yes my van is 13 years old but it's only got 20,000 miles on the odo. It's basically new. Anyone have an oversears supplier for OE parts? Did anyone find someone else to replace FordPartsUK that many had used on this forum?
  2. Looking for anyone that has experience or confirmation of changing the tire size settings in a Gen1 Transit connect. Specifically a 2013, US version. I understand it should be in theory possible with the lastest forscan software with custom circumference, but I have only read about other users successful doing so within the context of the later year TCs. Thanks,
  3. Does anyone here have experience doing this on the Gen 1 TC? 2013?
  4. @Beta Don did those rims have a weight stamp rating on them? I’m wanting to upgrade my rims but I do need to still haul a decent weight capacity in my gen 1 van
  5. @OLDSCHOOLFOOL I'm curiuos why you were interested in downsizing to 15's on this van? I see a lot of threads asking about upsizing the rim size (often for visual/better tire selection). I have the 2013 with 15's debating upsizing 16" rim to get a 215/65R15. Not completely sold yet as I have yet to figure out if I can forscan reprogram the speedo on the gen1 TC. Ultimately I want a better looking rim, ease of tire selection (though I am sacrificing load index and load range from factory spec, and weighing implications this might have in an accident and/or actual MPG hits with in ability to pressure up to 49 PSi with non XL rated tires such as the general grabber AT
  6. @jrm223 or anyone else - know if I can use Forscan to change the tire size in a gen 1 2013 TC? US Version. I'm nearly convinced to get 16" rims and try to run a 215/65R16s due to availability and selection of tires. But That is 6% increase in tire diameter and I'm not willing to put up with that type of odomoter/spedo deviation. TIA
  7. @ThatsMyDawgWhat did you end up going with and did you keep the rim size the 15" stock? I'm shopping for all season tires, I'm in the pacific NW and don't anticipate much crazy snow, but want to be prepared regardless. I'm eyeing some 3PMSF rated all seasons for this reason. @mrtn I'm surprised you didn't find success with your Michelin CrossClimates in snow - aren't those a 3PMSF rated tire? Was that before that rating was common, or did you just find performance of a better dedicated snow tire advantageous for your scenario?
  8. Would you still recommend this size? I have a 2013 TC i'm needing new tires for. I dislike the steelie look but don't necessarily want to change the overall diameter of the tire too drastically. Do you think that the difference in acceleration and control was due to the rim size increase, or due to new tires?
  9. Anyone on this particular thread who has upsized their gen 1 connect (15" rims to 16 or 17 or 18) can you comment on improvements and drawbacks. I don't want to oversize from factory specs too much, but I do want to get a nicer alloy rim and if that means a slightly wider tire, i'm ok with that also. If I can re-program my 2013 connect computer to compensate for a larger diameter tire, I would consider that, but I'm trying to determine if an increased rim size will really gain me anything - aside from perhaps a better selection of tire.
  10. Can you comment on the performance of those firestone weather grips? I asusme you've replaced them at this point. I have a first gen TC (2013) and am shopping for new tires as well as debating an upsize of tire rim. I see you've done that on your first gen, and reading your posts sounds like you've got a wealth of knowledge on the first gen. Would you get the firestones again? what size are you running and, if you upsized from stock, what improvements did you gain, lose?
  11. Camperconnect - what size rims/wheels are those? i'm debating upsizing from the stock 15's on my first gen 2013 TC, but unsure yet if i'm actually going to gain a smoother ride or ease of tire selection with a 16" or 17" rim.
  12. Searched high and low on the forum and wasn't able to find much - asking here: Anyone know of where to buy, or have a solution for a heavy duty webbing net type barrier for the 2010-2013 MY transit connect to act as a "removable bulkhead." I've found a company who sells for the 2014-2023 model years but not for gen 1, unless I can bring my van to them and they do a custom job. Not completely out of question, but will take some coordination, planning, and a trip. here is a link to 2014-2023 version of their product.https://raingler.com/products/ford-transit-connect-rear-cargo-area-vertical-barrier-divider Have also found this company: Seems they do all customized for this van, and a little steep pricing wise. https://www.cargocatch.com/Ford-Transit-Connect-Cargo-Net.html
  13. Nice! Looking forward to photos. Hope it goes smoothly. Keep us posted. 3 other windows? Did you only buy one rear door glass or are you also talking about the far rear sides that the passenger "wagon" models had? Shown below. I suspect these are more difficult as I think there is more cutting required. There is no pretty indent in the panel for extents of where to cut on the far back quarter glass, but from the inside you can tell there's two layers of sheet metal. Interesting great add!
  14. I think these vans are unique, especially the Gen 1 connects (2010-2013 in US, 2002-2012 if European) with the stamped recess in the metal, which matches the shape of the window if present. Enough digging in these forums can get you answers on things that aren't quite the subject of each thread - that's how I figured it out. I am working on adding glass to my slider doors which are even easier as it requires no cutting. The "panel" that exists in non-window slider doors (sliders, not back doors) is a fiberglass panel held in with a windshield urethane glue. I plan to remove the fiberglass with a thin wire glue cutter (like glass guys use) and then after cleaning up the residue, pop factory shaped window on with new glue. If anyone here is interested, the NYC taxi version of the Gen 1 connects had a small sliding portion of the glass window in the sliding doors. They were not available on other models, and not available from the factory that made them (custom glass shop in Turkey I believe). Best way to find them is get on car-part.com and search for glass from wrecking yards.
